SATURDAY
OSASUNA v REAL MADRID – Click here to bet
After suffering a 2-0 loss to title contenders Girona over the weekend, Osasuna’s recent unbeaten run of four games came to an abrupt end. Currently 10th on the table, they will be hoping to replicate last year’s success by continuing to climb the table. However, this Saturday, they face one of their toughest challenges this season, Real Madrid. They aim to avoid back-to-back defeats in the league and overturn their recent record against Los Blancos, having managed just one draw and suffered four defeats in their last five encounters across all competitions.
Real Madrid’s 4-0 demolition of Celta de Vigo last weekend extended their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions, bringing them one step closer to clinching the La Liga title as they regained a 7-point lead over their closest rivals, Girona, in the title race. Taking a 1-0 lead before the break ensured they remained in control of the game. Carlo Ancelotti and his team are well aware of their impressive record against their upcoming opponents and are optimistic they can continue their dominance over those competing for the title.
Real Madrid won the reverse fixture 4-0 this season and secured a 2-0 victory in this fixture last season.
Osasuna appears likely to struggle in this game, given their poor recent head-to-head encounters against Real Madrid. Los Blancos have only failed to score once in their last five away encounters against Osasuna, winning the rest by scoring at least 2 goals or more. This suggests we should expect a relatively routine victory for the visitors.
Recommended Bet: Result And Totals, Real Madrid And Over 1.5 goals at 9/10
GETAFE v GIRONA – Click here to bet
Getafe will host Girona this Saturday after suffering a 1-0 loss away to Valencia last weekend. Currently 12th on the table, Getafe will be concerned about their recent dip in form, having recorded two draws and two defeats in their last four appearances. With ten games remaining, it does appear they are safe, which should alleviate some pressure. Boasting a solid home record and a five-game unbeaten run, facing Girona at home will certainly motivate them for Saturday’s encounter.
Girona has reclaimed 2nd spot after beating Osasuna 2-0 last weekend. Despite this, they still trail log leaders Real Madrid by 7 points. This weekend, they face tough opposition, knowing they haven’t fared well away against Getafe, earning just one point in their last three league appearances at the Coliseum. This means they will need to work hard to apply any pressure on Real Madrid by obtaining maximum points on Saturday.
Girona won the reverse fixture 2-0 this season, while Getafe won 3-2 in this fixture last season.
The Coliseum hasn’t been a particularly good hunting ground for Girona and with the hosts averaging 1.30 goals at home and losing just twice this season, it complicates things for the title chasers. It’s a crucial game for the visitors and while I’m not discounting their chances, I do expect both teams to score at least once.
Recommended Bet: Both Teams To Score, Yes at 8/11
SUNDAY
ATLETICO MADRID v BARCELONA – Click here to bet
This Sunday, we are treated to an intriguing game between two titans of the league. Atlético may have fallen off a bit in terms of the title race, but when these two teams face off, it usually ignites plenty of passion and intensity.
Atlético Madrid enters this game on the back of an impressive turnaround in Europe, overturning Inter in the second leg and booking their place in the quarter-finals. Head coach Diego Simeone won’t need to say much to motivate his side for this one, given the history between these two teams and the drama that typically accompanies their clashes.
Currently 4th on the table, and with just 6 points between them, Sunday’s match holds significant importance, especially considering Atlético’s desire to avenge the 1-0 loss to Barcelona they suffered earlier this season. Domestically, they couldn’t be in better shape in terms of home form, with five consecutive wins at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Barcelona is currently 3rd on the table, trailing league leaders Real Madrid by 8 points. Having secured their quarter-final berth over Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, they can now turn their attention to what promises to be an intense encounter. Barcelona remains undefeated away from home in the league with a streak of 13 games this season, highlighting the consistency of Xavi and his team. They will be hoping to secure a double over Atletico Madrid come Sunday.
Barcelona won 1-0 in the reverse fixture this season and also triumphed with the same scoreline in this fixture last season.
There is no love lost when these two teams face each other. In fact, there has been an average of 11 cards dished out in their last two encounters, underscoring the magnitude of this game. Although very little separates these two teams in terms of their on-field abilities, Barcelona has had the upper hand in recent times. Despite Atletico boasting an impressive home record, Barcelona’s unbeaten away streak is why my preference lies with them.
Recommended Bet: Draw No Bet, Barcelona at 23/20
