Punters can look forward to more World Cup 2026 qualifying action this Saturday evening, and we’ll look at two of the matches from a betting angle.
Greece v Scotland – click here to bet
Greece will be looking to bounce back after a tough qualifying campaign that has seen them collect just three points from four matches. Their only win came in a 5-1 thrashing of Belarus, but they’ve since suffered consecutive defeats against Denmark, twice, and Scotland conceding 9 goals in those three outings while scoring only 2.
Defensive lapses have cost them and they’ll need to tighten up at the back if they are to have any chance of winning this fixture.
Scotland sit comfortably in 2nd place in Group C with 10 points from 4 matches and remain unbeaten. They’ve been efficient and consistent, winning three of their four fixtures, including a 3-1 home victory over Greece just over a month ago.
Their most recent action took place last month where they met with Belarus and walked away as 2-1 winners on home soil.
Head-to-Head:
These teams met last month in Glasgow, where Scotland ran out 3-1 winners in an impressive display of attacking intent.
Betting:
- Greece 2.20
- Draw 3.25
- Scotland 3.40
Verdict:
Greece tend to perform better at home, but Scotland are the more balanced side and carry the better form into this clash. It could be another tight contest, but the visitor’s momentum should be enough to edge it.
Bet: Scotland to Win at 3.40
Switzerland v Sweden – click here to bet
Switzerland have been excellent in their qualifying campaign, topping Group B with 10 points from 4 games and yet to concede a goal. They’ve scored nine times in that run, including comfortable home wins over Kosovo and Slovenia.
Their consistency and defensive organisation make them strong favourites once again despite being pushed to a 0-0 draw away from home against Slovenia in their latest outing.
Sweden have endured a nightmare campaign, sitting bottom of the group with just a single point from four matches. They’ve struggled in front of goal, scoring only twice while conceding seven and they are still searching for a win.
Defeats to Switzerland and recently Kosovo, where they lost 1-0 at home have all but ended their hopes of qualification and confidence looks low heading into another difficult fixture.
Head-to-Head:
The reverse fixture in October saw Switzerland dominate with a 2-0 away win in Stockholm, maintaining their unbeaten record in the group.
Betting:
- Switzerland 1.59
- Draw 4.25
- Sweden 5.25
Verdict:
Switzerland are in control and have been on superb form. Sweden’s performances have been poor and they’ve offered little attacking threat. The home side should have too much quality, I am expecting a high-scoring once sided affair.
Bet: Asian Handicap Switzerland -1.5 goals at 2.45
