BENIN vs SOUTH AFRICA
Benin currently sit 2nd in Group C, 2 points behind South Africa with both sides having played 5 games. They have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 and their last start was against Zimbabwe in Durban last week where they took a two goal lead only to allow the Zimbabweans back in to snatch a draw. Prior to that Benin had beaten Nigeria and Rwanda in mid-2024 to set themselves up nicely in the group.
South Africa’s first World Cup qualifier action in 2025 was a 2-0 home win over Lesotho last time out. Lesotho provided stubborn resistance early, but South Africa scored twice in the 60th and 64th minute for a 2-0 victory. The result puts them on top of Group C with 10 points from their 5 matches, 2 points ahead of 2nd placed Benin.
Head-to-Head
These sides met in a World Cup qualifier in November of 2023 with South Africa winning 2-1 at home having taken a 2-0 lead to the break. The only other meeting came in the African Cup of Nations, 2004 where South Africa won 2-0.

Benin 3.90
Draw 2.88
South Africa 2.15
Verdict
The draw wouldn’t be the worst result for either of these two sides and it no surprise to see it trading at under the 3.00 mark.
It will be tough for Benin to beat South Africa on neutral soil and I think that the betting is about right on this one. Two of Benin’s last 3 World Cup qualifiers has seen both teams find the back of the net and the same stat applies to South Africa’s games. Both teams also scored when they met earlier on in qualification. Both teams to score, yes, at 2.35 looks decent value.
BET: Both teams to score, yes, at 2.35
Other markets of interest include over 2.5 goals which is trading at 2.90 and if you think that South Africa can win by exactly 1 goal , you can get 3.70 in the handicap market, South Africa -1, the draw,
I am going to look at the correct score market where I fancy South Africa to repeat their 2-1 victory in the first qualification match.
BET: Correct Score 1-2 at 11.00
