We turn our attention to the final round of Group A in the UEFA European Championship scheduled for Sunday, June 23, where we suggest a bet for each match.
Before diving into that, let’s review the latest outright market odds. France and Germany currently dominate as joint favourites at 4/1, with pre-tournament favourite England sliding to third place at 9/2. Spain’s victory over Italy has pushed them to 11/2, closely followed by Portugal at 6/1. The Netherlands follow at 16/1, while the rest of the field is available at 20/1 or better.

SCOTLAND v HUNGARY – Click here to bet
Scotland enter the final round of the group stages with a mathematical chance of progressing to the Round of 16, thanks to their recent 1-1 draw against Switzerland. The Tartan Army, however, will need to secure a victory over Hungary in Stuttgart this weekend to maximize their chances of advancing. With the best third-placed rankings yet to be decided, head coach Steve Clarke has no choice but to adopt a positive approach. The prospect of progressing from the group stages for the first time will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for what lies ahead. Currently third in their group with one point from two outings, the players are fully aware of the significance of this match and the opportunity to make history for Scotland.
Hungary has had a very disappointing campaign despite showing much promise in the qualifiers. The Hungarians enter their last game in Group A currently occupying last place with no points and a negative four-goal difference. Their most recent outing resulted in a 2-0 defeat to Germany, a result that has placed significant pressure on them, knowing they have an extremely slim chance of progressing beyond the group stages as one of the best third-placed teams. One thing is for certain, anything less than a convincing win against Scotland this weekend will likely mean an early exit for the Hungarians.
Head-to-Head
These two sides have met 9 times, with Hungary slightly edging it with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses. Their most recent encounter resulted in a 1-0 win for Scotland in an international friendly back in March 2018.
Betting
Scotland 13/8
Draw 28/10
Hungary 31/20
Prediction
The Tartan Army responded far more positively on match day 2, and as a result, they have given themselves a fighting chance of progressing beyond the group stages. With Hungary struggling to contain their opposition and losing two on the bounce, I think the Scots can get the result they desperately require.
Suggested Bet: Full Time Result, Scotland at 13/8
SWITZERLAND v GERMANY – Click here to bet
Switzerland will face hosts Germany in their final Group A match at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt this Sunday, knowing that their fate is very much in their own hands after their recent 1-1 draw against Scotland. A positive result against Germany will effectively secure their place in the Round of 16. Currently second in the standings with four points, the Swiss are hoping that Germany’s head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, will opt to rest key players, given that Germany has already secured their place in the next round regardless of this weekend’s result. With no team having ever failed to progress with four points as one of the best third-place teams in the history of the Euros, the Swiss will be quietly confident of advancing to the next round.
Germany will face Switzerland this Sunday, having already secured their place in the Round of 16 thanks to their most recent 2-0 win over Hungary. It has been a solid campaign for Nagelsmann’s men, who have recorded consecutive victories in Group A. Currently topping the table with six points and a commanding goal difference of +6, Die Mannschaft can already look ahead to the knockout stages. With little at stake on match day three, it remains to be seen whether Germany will opt to rotate the squad, providing an opportunity for the team to regroup and rejuvenate before embarking on another strong performance in the knockout stages.
Head-to-Head
These two sides have met 52 times, with Germany dominating the record with 35 wins, 8 draws, and 9 losses. Their most recent encounter resulted in a 3-3 draw in the UEFA Nations League back in October 2020.
Betting
Switzerland 4/1
Draw 29/10
Germany 8/11
Prediction
This encounter is a difficult one to call, given that we have no idea whether Germany will opt to make wholesale changes. With the Swiss knocking on the door in terms of following the hosts into the Round of 16, I do think they will find the back of the net irrespective of who plays for Julian Nagelsmann. Betting on both teams to score is appealing at a very favourable price.
Suggested Bet: Both Teams To Score, Yes at 8/10
