We kick off Matchday 35 in the English Premier League a little earlier this week, with a Friday evening encounter at the Etihad as Manchester City host Wolverhampton Wanderers. City will be looking to maintain their strong form and continue their push for Champions League qualification next season, while Wolves arrive in good form after some impressive recent performances. Here are my thoughts, along with a suggested bet for your consideration.
Before we dive in, you might want to explore the outright markets. With Liverpool having already wrapped up the title, there are plenty of exciting betting options still available for the final weeks of the season. You can find a range of outright and exotic markets through the link below.

MANCHESTER CITY v WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS – Click here to bet
After securing their place in this year’s FA Cup Final with a commanding 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Wembley last weekend, Manchester City now turn their attention back to league action. At the time of writing, City sit fourth in the Premier League with 61 points, though they could drop to fifth if Forest claim maximum points on Thursday evening. With Newcastle, Chelsea, Forest, and Villa all still in contention, their place in next season’s Champions League is far from guaranteed. The race for the top spots remains wide open.
City’s most recent league outing was on April 22nd, when they earned a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the Etihad, marking their 18th Premier League win of the season. They are currently unbeaten in their last eight matches across all competitions (W6, D2), having scored 66 goals and conceded 43 in the league so far. At home, City have won 11 of their 17 league matches, drawing 3 and losing 3. They’ve won their last three consecutive Premier League home games and have lost just once in their last seven outings at the Etihad across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers arrive at the Etihad full of confidence after a remarkable turnaround in recent weeks. Having spent much of the season in the bottom four, Vitor Pereira’s side has turned their fortunes around dramatically. Following a 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend, Wolves are now on a six-match winning streak and have climbed to 13th in the table with 41 points, having scored 51 goals and conceded 61.
Form-wise, Wolves are the best-performing team in the league over the last five matches, winning all five, while City are unbeaten in their last five, with four wins and a draw — the second-best run in the league. On the road, Wolves have won their last four league matches, a remarkable turnaround considering their poor start to the season. Overall, they have accumulated 21 points away from home, with six wins, three draws, and eight defeats so far.
Top of Form
Head-to-Head
Earlier this season, Manchester City secured a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture, while last season saw the Citizens claim a commanding 5-1 win in this match. City have now won eight of their last nine meetings against Wolves.
Betting
Manchester City 4/11
Draw 9/2
Wolverhampton Wanderers 7/1
Verdict
Given Manchester City’s strong recent form and their dominance in past encounters with Wolves, I expect them to secure a win. However, with Wolves’ impressive resurgence and their improved goal-scoring ability, I prefer the value of both teams to score with City to win at 18/10, rather than the outright City win at 4/11.
Suggested Bet: Result and Both Teams to Score – Manchester City and Yes at 18/10
