ASTON VILLA vs CHELSEA
Aston Villa are 4th on the table with 51 points from 28 matches. Their recent run has been mixed, having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five league fixtures. They were beaten 2-0 away at Wolves last time out and had previously drawn 1-1 with Leeds on home soil.
Villa have found the net 38 times while allowing 30 goals against them, suggesting a side that can compete but is not always watertight at the back.
Chelsea occupy 6th position overall with 45 points from 28 games. They come into this clash after a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal but had been on a decent unbeaten spell prior to that, including a 3-1 away success at Wolves and a 3-2 victory over West Ham as well as stalemates with Burnley and Leeds.
Chelsea have produced 49 goals this season while giving up 33 at the back, highlighting their attacking threat but also defensive vulnerability at times. On their travels they have regularly managed to get on the scoresheet.
Head-to-Head
Villa have won the last two league meetings, including a 2-1 triumph at Stamford Bridge in December as well as a 2-1 victory in the corresponding fixture last term. Recent encounters between these sides have often delivered goals at both ends.

Aston Villa 2.80
Draw 3.50
Chelsea 2.50
Verdict
This looks evenly matched given the standings and recent form. Villa’s home advantage is significant, but Chelsea’s attacking quality cannot be ignored. With both teams carrying goal threats and neither defence entirely convincing, I am expecting this to be an open contest.
BET: Correct Score 2-2 at 13.00
BRIGHTON vs ARSENAL
Brighton sit 11th on the log holding 37 points from 28 matches. They have shown resilience lately, recording back-to-back wins over Brentford and most recently Nottingham where they won 2-1 at home.
Brighton have registered 38 goals and leaked 35, reflecting a fairly balanced campaign. On their own turf they are capable of troubling sides, as shown in previous meetings.
Arsenal remain the league leaders and have accumulated 64 points from 29 fixtures. They are unbeaten in their last five league games, collecting three wins and two draws. Their latest action saw them beat Chelsea 2-1 on home soil to follow up a dominant 4-1 display on the road against Tottenham.
Arsenal have struck 58 goals while conceding just 22, boasting the strongest defensive record in the division alongside the most potent attack.
Head-to-Head
Arsenal have had the better of recent clashes, winning 2-1 in December and eliminating Brighton in the EFL Cup earlier in the season. However, two of their last three league meetings have ended level, indicating Brighton’s ability to compete.

Brighton 5.00
Draw 4.00
Arsenal 1.67
Verdict
Arsenal’s consistency and defensive solidity make them rightful favourites. Brighton can pose problems going forward but over 90 minutes I believe the visitors structure and cutting edge should shine through and I am backing the Gunners to win a game where both teams find the back of the net.

MANCHESTER CITY vs NOTTINGHAM
Manchester City are 2nd on the standings with 59 points from 28 matches and remain in close pursuit of the summit. They have been in excellent form, winning four and drawing one of their last five league outings, including victories over Liverpool, Fulham and Newcastle.
City have scored 57 goals and let in just 25, underlining their dominance at both ends of the pitch. Their most recent fixture saw them edge Leeds 1-0 away from home.
Nottingham Forest are 17th with 27 points from 28 matches and remain under pressure near the relegation zone. They have struggled for momentum, failing to win in their last five league games and managing just one goal across their previous three outings.
Nottingham have allowed 41 goals to slip this season while scoring only 26, one of the lower tallies in the division.
Head-to-Head
City have won four of their last five meetings between the sides, including a 2-1 victory away earlier this season and a 2-0 success on the road during their FA Cup 2025 clash.

Manchester City 1.43
Draw 5.00
Nottingham 7.25
Verdict
Given City’s current rhythm and Nottingham’s struggles in front of goal, this appears a mismatch on paper. In my opinion the hosts should dictate proceedings and limit opportunities at the other end.
