With just two league matches taking place on Sunday, we take a look at the fixtures rounding off the Premier League weekend.
The action begins at Elland Road, where Leeds United look to steady themselves after a difficult run of form as they welcome an Aston Villa side beginning to build real momentum under Unai Emery. The day’s headline encounter follows at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal aim to reaffirm their title credentials against a Tottenham Hotspur team boasting the best away record in the division. Here are my thoughts along with suggested bets for each.
Taking a quick glance at the title picture ahead of the weekend’s action, Arsenal hold firm as favourites at 4/5, with Manchester City their closest challengers at 9/4. Defending champions Liverpool are priced at 10/1, while Chelsea remain further back at 25/1. The rest of the field sits at 35/1 or longer.

LEEDS UNITED v ASTON VILLA – Click here to bet
Sunday’s late afternoon kick-off at Elland Road sees Leeds United looking to steady themselves after a difficult run of form, as they welcome an in-form Aston Villa side beginning to build momentum under Unai Emery. The Whites have relied heavily on their home performances to keep afloat this season, while Villa arrive targeting a third straight win before resuming their European campaign later in the week.
Leeds come into the weekend sitting 16th on 11 points after a 3-1 defeat away to Nottingham Forest before the international break. Daniel Farke’s side have found life tougher in recent weeks, losing four of their last five league matches, but their home form has been far more encouraging. The Whites have lost just once at Elland Road since returning to the Premier League, collecting eight points from five fixtures and scoring consistently in front of their supporters. Their early clean-sheet foundation has somewhat faded, however, with their last three home appearances featuring both teams finding the back of the net, but with nearly 73% of their points earned on home soil, Elland Road remains central to any hopes of climbing the table.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, travel north in far better spirits after a commanding 4-0 win over Bournemouth prior to the break. Emery’s men sit sixth on 18 points and have responded impressively to their early-season inconsistencies, winning eight of their last ten matches in all competitions. Their away form in the league tells a slightly different story, just one win from five trips, and back-to-back away defeats, heading into this one, Villa’s overall upward trajectory suggests they’ll still pose a serious threat. With a Europa League home tie against Young Boys on Thursday, they’ll also be keen to maintain their domestic momentum before shifting focus to Europe.
Head-to-Head
These sides last met in the 2022/23 season, where Villa went unbeaten, drawing 0-0 at Elland Road before winning 2-1 at Villa Park. Leeds have not beaten Villa in their last five home meetings, drawing three and losing two.
Betting
Leeds United 2/1
Draw 9/4
Aston Villa 7/5
Verdict
Leeds usually find an extra gear at Elland Road, but Villa’s form, and the way this fixture has gone in recent years, still tilts things their way. Emery’s side aren’t always the most convincing travellers, but there’s enough quality there to grind something out against a Leeds team still trying to settle back into the top flight. With Villa not exactly free-scoring on the road and this matchup often turning into a tight one, a low-scoring away result feels the most likely outcome.
Suggested Bet: Aston Villa Double Chance (Win or Draw) & Under 3.5 Goals at 5/6
ARSENAL v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – Click here to bet
Sunday evening’s headline clash at the Emirates brings together league leaders Arsenal, who’ll be looking to get back on track after dropping points before the break, and a Tottenham side starting to settle nicely under Thomas Frank. Arsenal have been close to faultless at home this season, but Spurs arrive with the league’s best away record and a growing sense they can match their rivals stride for stride.
Arsenal come into the weekend top on 26 points after a 2-2 draw at Sunderland, a result that halted both their ten-game winning run and their streak of eight straight clean sheets. Even so, Arteta’s side remain a real force at the Emirates with 13 points from five league games, 12 goals scored, and just one conceded. They’ve won their last five home matches in all competitions without letting in a goal, and with Bayern Munich visiting in midweek, they’ll want to keep the rhythm going before attention turns to Europe.
Spurs, meanwhile, make the short trip across London in confident mood after a 2-2 draw against Manchester United. Frank’s men sit 5th on 18 points and have been outstanding on their travels, unbeaten in five league away games (W4, D1) with 12 scored and only three conceded. Their only away setback in any competition came in the EFL Cup at Newcastle, and in the league they’ve taken 13 points from a possible 15, scoring at least twice in every match on the road. With a Champions League date at Paris Saint-Germain to come in midweek, they’ll be just as eager to keep things moving in the right direction.
Head-to-Head
Arsenal have had the edge in this fixture for a while now, winning five of the last six competitive meetings between the sides. They completed the double over Spurs last season as well, a narrow 1-0 win away and a 2-1 victory in this fixture at the Emirates. The Gunners are also unbeaten in their last six home league meetings with Tottenham (W4 D2), and both teams have scored in all six of those matches, each of which produced at least three goals.
Betting
Arsenal 43/100
Draw 15/4
Tottenham Hotspur 25/4
Verdict
Arsenal are incredibly hard to break down, especially at home. Spurs have been strong on the road and will still carry a counter-attacking threat, but this is comfortably their toughest away day of the season. With both sides expected to go after the game and recent derby meetings usually producing goals, Arsenal’s strength at home should give them the edge in what feels like another lively, attack-minded derby clash.
Suggested Bet: Arsenal to win & Over 2.5 goals at 23/20
