The Varsity Cup continues on Monday and we take a look at the four games from a betting angle.
CUT v UP TUKS – Click here to bet
CUT started the tournament strongly with an away win over UJ followed by a narrow home win over UCT. They were away to Maties last week at a ground where they had a good record, but they failed to score a point and were beaten 54-0.
Tuks have made a strong start to their return to the Varsity Cup, beating Wits on the road and then UJ at home, but last week they found UCT in Cape Town too strong, going down 36-29.
Head-to-Head
These sides last met in 2023 with CUT hosting and winning a thriller, 41-39 and there have been over 70 points in the last 3 meetings between the sides.
Handicap: CUT [+0.5]
NWU EAGLES v SHIMLAS – Click here to bet
After suffering defeats away to UCT and at home to Maties the Eagles finally got their campaign going last week with a hard fought 39-34 win on the road against Wits and they currently sit 6th on the log and within striking distance of the semi-final spot.
Shimlas are 2nd on the log, having lost to the Maties by 4 points away in Round 1, they convincingly beat Wits at home and then last week they held on for a hard fought 49-45 win over UJ.
Head-to-Head
Shimlas hosted this fixture last season and won 35-26 and that broke a run of 6 NWU Eagles victories.
Handicap: NWU Eagles [-5.5]

UCT v WITS – Click here to bet
UCT have won 2 of their 3 matches this season and both of those games have been at home. They beat the Eagles by 9 points in Week 1 and then last week beat Tuks by 7 points and in between that they travelled to CUT where they lost 23-19.
Wits have lost their opening 3 games, getting well beaten by Tuks at home before taking a 30 points beating away to Shimlas. Last week they put in their best performance yet, fighting hard but going down 39-34 to the Eagles at home.
Head-to-Head
These sides played to a 33-33 draw at Wits last season and last time UCT hosted was in 2023 where they won 46-19.
Handicap: UCT [-15.5]
UJ v MATIES – Click here to bet
UJ have lost all 3 of their matches to date, going down by 16 points to CUT at home, a match where they started favourites, in Week 1. They were then beaten by 8 points away at Tuks and last week put up a brave fight, but went down 49-45 on the road to the Shimlas.
Maties have a 100% record edging the Shimlas at home in Week 1, beating NWU Eagles by 2 points in Week 2 and then delivering their best performance yet with a clinical 54-0 demolition of CUT last week.
Head-to-Head
Maties won this fixture 54-22 last season, but last time they visited UJ it was the home team who got up 49-42, that was back in 2023.
Handicap: UJ [+21.5]
