With only 3 weeks left of the group stages in Super Rugby Pacific 2024, it is crunch time for qualifying for the quarter-finals. We look at Friday’s matches from a betting angle.
The Blues are currently sitting as favourites to win the competition and are trading at 2.60. The Chiefs are just behind and are trading at 2.90 closely followed by the Hurricanes at 3.50.

The Chiefs are currently sitting 4th on the table after winning 9 out of 12 matches this season, earning the second-highest points difference of 192. This could come in handy if they beat the Hurricanes with a bonus point on Friday, giving them a chance to secure a home semi-final if the Brumbies’ results go in their favour. They travelled to Melbourne last weekend, where they won the match 23-26, securing their 4th win in a row.
The Hurricanes have won 10 out of their 12 matches this season and are sitting 2nd on the log behind the Blues. They are coming off a 32-24 win against Moana Pasifika at home last weekend. The two matches the Hurricanes lost this season were both away from home.
The two sides last faced each other in April, where the Hurricanes won the match 36-23 at home. However, in last year’s Super Rugby, when the Chiefs hosted the Hurricanes, the Chiefs came out on top, winning the match 23-12.
The Chiefs are favourites to win the match and are trading at 1.63, while the Hurricanes are trading at 2.55.
The handicap at the time of writing is Chiefs [-3.5].
The Chiefs being at home gives them a significant advantage and confidence is high after 4 successive wins. The Hurricanes lost to the Blues away from home two weeks ago and their form has dipped slightly. I believe the Chiefs will win and beat the handicap.

The Rebels are sitting 6th on the table after winning 5 of their 12 matches this season. They hosted the Chiefs last weekend, losing the match 23-26. They have lost their last 4 away matches while conceding a significant number of points.
The two sides last met in February when the Rebels hosted the match. The Brumbies came out on top, winning 30-3.
