CHIEFS vs CRUSADERS – Click here to bet
The Chiefs are currently topping the log after the first round of play, sitting on 4 points with a points difference of +11.
They put up an excellent performance against the reigning champions at Eden Park last weekend to defeat the Blues 25-14 in an action-packed encounter.
The Crusaders have bounced back this season based on the first round, and they are in 2nd on the table, level on points with the Blues. It is solely points difference which divides these teams as the Crusaders are on +8.
The Crusaders went head-to-head with the Hurricanes and after last season’s performances from both sides the Hurricanes were expected by many to take the win. This was not the case however, and the Crusaders picked up a 33-25 win in front of their home fans.
Head-to-Head
In terms of head-to-head across their last three games, the Crusaders have the upper hand with 2 wins, while the Chiefs have 1. In 2023 the Crusaders won 20-25 away from home and the second fixture played early last year was clinched 33-29 by the Chiefs on home soil. The most recent match was played nearly a year ago and the Crusaders as the hosts won by 11 points in a high scoring match.
Betting and Verdict

The Chiefs are priced at 1.47 with the Crusaders slightly out at 3.20 and the draw is priced at 29.00.
These sides have played some epic battles over the years and I am backing the home team to win a tight one.

REDS vs MOANA PASIFIKA – Click here to bet
The Queensland Reds are yet to start their campaign this season and with their first clash this weekend they will be looking to get on the winning side of things as comfortable favourites against Moana Pasifika.
The Reds are coming into this season off a strong 2024 run where they finished in 5th overallbut were well beaten by the Chiefs in the quarter-finals.
Moana Pasifika sit in 6th on the log after round 1 and they currently have 1 point to their name after picking up a losing bonus point in an intense match to start things off for them last weekend.
They met with Western Force on Saturday in a clash that was extremely high scoring and despite putting up a gutsy fight they fell short in the end, losing the match by a singular point after conceding a converted try after the hooter, with a final scoreline of 45-44 to the home team.
Head-to-Head
These sides have encountered one another three times in history with the first match in 2022 ending in a 34-22 win for Reds at home. The second match held in 2023 saw Reds once again take a 40-28 win but this time on the road. The third and final match saw Moana Pasifika perform incredibly well to snatch a 17-14 win at home.
Betting and Verdict
Handicap: Reds (-15.5)
The Reds enter this fixture as comfortable favourites at 1.18, with Moana Pasifika at 6.00 and the draw 41.00.
I am expecting a frantic high scoring match but the points line of 64.5 looks about right and I will back the Reds to lead by 8-14 points at the break.
BET: 1st Half Winning Margin Reds by 8-14 points at 3.70
