We take a look at the two Super Rugby matches taking place on Friday and suggest a bet in each game.
Let’s start with a look at the latest Outright betting where the Blues and Chiefs are now joint favourites at 2/1 with log leaders, the Hurricanes at 22/10, you can get 12/1 the Brumbies and 13/1 and better the balance. The Hurricanes are now 9/10 to win the regular season.

Crusaders v Rebels – Click here to bet
Who would have believed that after 8 matches the Crusaders would be sitting bottom of the table with just 1 victory to their name! They were away to the Force last week where they started favourites, but were soundly beaten 37-15 in Perth. The week before that they lost in extra time after drawing 40-40 with the Waratahs in Sydney. Their last two home games has seen them beat the Chiefs by 11 and lose to the Hurricanes by 4.
The Rebels are 4th on the log and have won their last 3 matches including beating the Highlanders 47-31 last time out. They are coming off a bye week. On the road this season they have beaten Moana Pasifika, lost by 26 points to the Hurricanes and beaten the Waratahs by 6.
Head-to-Head
The Crusaders beat the Rebels 43-27 in Melbourne last year. The last time they played in Christchurch they won 42-17 in 2022.
Handicap: Crusaders -10.5
The Crusaders have really battled this season and while I wouldn’t be surprised if they ran away with this, I just don’t have the confidence to back them.
The total points line of 57.5 might look high initially, but it would have arrived in the last 6 meetings between the sides.
Suggested Bet: Over 57.5 points at 10/11

Waratahs v Chiefs – Click here to bet
The Waratahs are currently 9th on the log with 2 wins and 6 losses in their 8 matches. They are coming off a bye and their last action was at home to the Crusaders where they won 43-40 in extra time and that broke a run of 5 successive losses in the Tournament. Prior to beating the Crusaders they had lost to the Rebels by 6 points at home, the Blues by 2 and the Highlanders also by 2 points.
The Chiefs are 5th on the log after 5 victories and 3 defeats. They are also coming off a bye and last time out they went down 36-23 away to the Hurricanes and they have lost all 3 matches on the road this season, losing to the Crusaders by 11 and the Reds by 6 in a low scoring encounter.
Head-to-Head
The Chiefs beat the Waratahs 24-14 in Sydney last season and they have won their last 6 matches against the Waratahs.
Handicap: Waratahs +13.5
I think the handicap is well set in this one and I am once again looking at the points lines, although going over 57.5 wouldn’t have landed in the last two meetings between the sides, it would have in the previous 5 and I just have a feeling that this is going to be an open game.
Suggested Bet: Over 57.5 points at 9/10
