FRIDAY
Hurricanes v Brumbies – Click here to bet
The Hurricanes are currently 4th on the log and they host the 2nd place Brumbies as the race for the playoffs intensifies.
The Hurricanes most recent action was two weeks ago when they were well beaten 33-17 by the Chiefs at home. They had beaten the Highlanders by 15 on the road the week before that.
The Brumbies like the Hurricanes are coming off a bye and their last action was a 43-28 home win over the Fijian Drua. The week before that they were away at the Reds where they were convincing 52-24 victors.
Handicap: Hurricanes -8.5
This game looks quite well handicapped in my opinion, but I am expecting points in the match and I am going for an overs play in this one.
Suggested Bet: Over 60.5 points at 9/10
Waratahs v Highlanders – Click here to bet
The Waratahs are currently 10th on the log with just 2 wins in their opening 8 matches and they face a Highlanders side that is sitting 7th with 3 wins so far this season.
The Waratahs were away to the Blues last week and they got hammered 55-21 in Auckland, but the week before that they turned in their best performance of the season winning 36-16 against the Force at home.
The Highlanders went down 30-17 to the Force last week and they were coming off a bye heading into that match.
Handicap: Waratahs -3.5
Money has come for the Waratahs this week as they opened slight underdogs with the bookmakers. I believe that a full strength Waratahs side can put this Highlanders side away.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Waratahs -3.5 at 10/11

SATURDAY
Fijian Drua v Blues – Click here to bet
The Drua are currently 9th on the log and they face a Blues side sitting in 5th.
The Drua were well beaten 50-17 by the Chiefs away last week and the week before that they were beaten 43-28 by the Brumbies in Canberra. They are a different beast at home and beat the Rebels 38-28 and they also caused a massive upset when they beat the Crusaders 25-24 earlier in the season.
The Blues turned in an impressive display last week beating the Waratahs 55-21 at home. They were coming off a bye for that match, but had also previously seen off the Rebels 54-17 on the road.
Handicap: Fijian Drua +14.5
The Blues have really hit their straps and I can’t see this Drua side staying with them even in front of a passionate crowd.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Blues -14.5 at 9/10
Moana Pasifika v Rebels – Click here to bet
Moana Pasifika are bottom of the table without a victory in their opening 8 matches and they face second from bottom Rebels who have won 2 and lost 6 of their first 8 games.
Pasifika are coming off a bye, but two weeks ago went down by 12 points to the Reds at home and prior to that put up a brave fight in going down by 17 points away to the Crusaders.
The Rebels were in action last week and they lost by 16 points at home to the Crusaders and their penultimate start was 3 weeks ago when they were hammered 17-54 by the Blues in Melbourne.
Handicap: Moana Pasifika +5.5
It is hard to back either of these teams with confidence at the moment, but I do think we are going to get a high scoring encounter with defence optional.
Suggested Bet: Over 62.5 points at 17/20
Chiefs v Crusaders – Click here to bet
The Chiefs top the table with a 100% record and they face the Crusaders who currently sit 3rd having lost 2 of their opening 8 matches. In Week 6 they hosted the Blues in another New Zealand derby winning 20-13.
The Crusaders haven’t been at their best this season, but they did get a 43-27 win away to the Rebels last week. The previous week was a bye and in their penultimate start the Crusaders saw off Moana Pasifika 38-21 at home.
These sides met in Round 1 with the Chiefs winning by 21 points in Christchurch.
Handicap: Chiefs -4.5
The Chiefs have been the team of the competition for me and I am expecting their dominance to continue.
Suggested Bet: Half-Time/Full-Time / Chiefs/Chiefs at 1/1
Reds v Western Force – Click here to bet
The Reds are currently 6th on the log and they face a Force who sit 8th, 2 points behind them with both teams having won 3 and lost 5 of their opening 8 matches. These sides met in Week 2 in Melbourne with the Force getting absolutely hammered 20-71.
The Force are coming off their best performance of the season beating the Highlanders 30-17 at home, a result which could have been backed at 3/1 before kick-off. The week before they were disappointing in going down 16-36 to the Waratahs in Sydney.
The Reds are coming off a bye and their last action was in Week 8 when they beat Moana Pasifika 40-28 on the road and the week before that they were disappointing in going down 24-52 to the Brumbies in Brisbane.
Handicap: Reds -9.5
Once again the handicap looks well set, but I find myself leaning towards unders on points here. There have been some high scoring Australian derbies this year, but I think we may be in for more of an arm wrestle this week.
Suggested Bet: Under 59.5 points at 17/20
