FRIDAY
Highlanders vs Hurricanes – Click here to bet
The Highlanders have had a mixed start to their 2026 campaign, showing flashes of quality but struggling for consistency. After their 39-31 home victory in Round 4 against the Western Force, they lost 29-18 away to the Crusaders last week. Previously they lost to the Reds and the Chiefs but had a narrow home win over the Crusaders in Round 1.
The Hurricanes have made a strong start to their 2026 campaign, showing plenty of attacking power. Last week saw them up against the Western Force where they won 31-23 at home. Previously they had wins against the Waratahs and Moana Pacific but were defeated by the Fijian Drua.
Betting
Highlanders 3.40
Draw 29.00
Hurricanes 1.40
Handicap: Highlanders +7.5
Verdict
This should be a cracking New Zealand derby, and the handicap of +7.5 Highlanders looks about right. So far, the games played in Dunedin have been fairly low scoring but as the season progresses, I expect that to change, and I am on the Over Points here.
BET: Over 55.5 points at 1.91
Brumbies vs Chiefs – Click here to bet
The Brumbies had a strong start and opened the season with three straight wins including a 50-24 away win over the Crusaders in Christchurch, a historic result. They also recorded wins over the Western Force and Blues. Their unbeaten run ended with a narrow 34-31 home defeat to the Reds despite leading late in the game and last week they had a big loss away to the Fijian Drua who beat them 42-27.
The Chiefs have been one of the top-performing New Zealand sides. Their last encounter was against Moana Pasifika at home where they won the match 57-24. They were also at home to the Crusaders where they lost 33-43, but they had away victories against the Highlanders and the Blues.
Betting
Brumbies 2.60
Draw 26.00
Chiefs 1.61
Handicap: Brumbies +3.5
Verdict
This should be a cracking match, but I fancy that the Brumbies may be a bit short of their best after their trip back from Fiji and a stacked Chiefs team can beat the handicap.
BET: Chiefs -3.5 at 1.87
SATURDAY
Fijian Drua vs Reds – Click here to bet
The Fijian Drua have had a mixed start with two wins and two losses in their 4 matches. Their first two matches saw them defeated at home by Moana Pasifika and away by the Waratahs. At home they beat the Hurricanes 25-20 and the Brumbies 42-27. They are showing strong form at home but struggling with inconsistency overall.
The Reds lost their Round 1 match 12-36 to the Waratahs. They then bounced back with a 31-14 win over the Highlanders at home and another narrow away victory over the Brumbies followed by a win over the Waratahs in the last round. They are playing confident, structured rugby but the Drua on the road will be a big test.
Betting
Fijian Drua 1.65
Draw 26.00
Reds 2.50
Handicap: Drua -5.5
Verdict
The days of the Fijian Drua starting as underdogs appear to be over and the Reds have a big task ahead of them. I like the Drua to cover the handicap.
BET: Fijian Drua -5.5 points at 1.95
Moana Pasifika vs Crusaders – Click here to bet
Moana Pasifika have had a tough run and lost 4 of their games and have only won once, namely a 40-26 home win in the first round over the Fijian Drua. Their losses were against the Blues, Chiefs, Western Force, and the Hurricanes. Their main issue is a leaky defense.
Crusaders have been mixed but improving as they started the season with a narrow loss to the Highlanders followed by a heavy loss at home to the Brumbies. They then had wins against the Chiefs and the Highlanders but in-between an away loss to the Blues. They have not been as dominant as usual, but still competitive.
Betting
Moana Pasifika 14.00
Draw 67.00
Crusaders 1.04
Handicap: Pasifika +25.5
Verdict
Pasifika have been a big disappointment in the Tournament so far, but the Crusaders have been vey inconsistent. I can’ t see past a Crusaders victory, bit I do think that Pasifika can beat the handicap.
BET: Pasifika +25.5 at 1.87

Waratahs vs Blues – Click here to bet
The Waratahs started the season well with back-to-back wins at home against the Reds and the Fijian Drua. Their form then dipped and they had a heavy loss 19-59 to the Hurricanes at home followed by a 26-17 loss last week against the Reds.
The Blues had a narrow defeat in their opening round, losing 19-15 to the Chiefs which was followed by a win against the Western Force. The next round they were beaten by the Brumbies 30-27. Round 4 they were up against the Crusaders and came away with a 29-13 victory which was followed by another strong win over Moana Pasifika.
Betting
Waratahs 3.00
Draw 23.00
Blues 1.49
Handicap: Waratahs +6.5
Verdict
Waratahs started the season strongly, but they have been a bit disappointing since, while the Blues have been the inconsistent team that we have come to know over the years. I think this is the sort of game where the points can flow and I am betting that we get 56 or more.
