France are favourites to win this year’s competition and are trading at 2.55 while Ireland will look to win it for a third time in a row and the bookies have them trading at 2.70 with England at 5.00 and Scotland at 8.00.

FRIDAY
France v Wales – Click here to bet
France won four of their last five matches in 2024 which included wins over New Zealand and Argentina at home. They finished second in last year’s Six Nations, losing heavily to Ireland at home and drawing a match against Italy, also in France.
Wales did not win a match in 2024, recording one of their worst seasons ever. Wales finished at the bottom of the table in last years Six Nations. The Autumn internationals in November saw them lose by over 30 points to South Africa and Australia.
Head-to-head
France have won their last five matches against Wales in the Six Nations with Wales last beating France in 2019.
Betting and Verdict
France are currently trading at 1.02 while the bookies have Wales at 21.00 for the win and the draw at 101.00. In all of France’s last four home matches, 59 points or more have been scored in and with clear conditions forecast at the time of writing I can see this fixture being yet another high scoring one.
Handicap: France [-27.5]
Suggested bet: Total points over 57.5 at 1.95

SATURDAY
Scotland v Italy – Click here to bet
Scotland had a strong finish to their 2024 season, winning four of their last five matches. Their only loss came against South Africa at home in November and they finished fourth in last years Six Nations after winning two of their five matches.
Italy also had a strong finish to their season last year, winning three of their last five matches with losses coming against Argentina and New Zealand at home. They had a strong Six Nations last year, winning two matches, drawing another but finishing fifth due to a lack of bonus points.
Head-to-head
Scotland have won four of their last five fixtures against Italy, however, Italy won the most recent fixture in last year’s Six Nations with the match ending 31-29 in Rome.
Betting and Verdict
Scotland are favourites to win the match and are trading at 1.05 while Italy are trading at 13.00 and the draw is 51.00.
Although Scotland should be able to get a win, people often underestimate the current Italian side who have been pushing opponents a lot harder than previous versions, for example New Zealand only beating them by 18 points, and so I can see Scotland winning the match, but not by more than the handicap.
Handicap: Scotland [-19.5]
Suggested bet: Handicap, Italy [+19.5] at 1.85
Ireland v England – Click here to bet
The match that everyone will be waiting for, the defending champions, Ireland, host traditional rivals, England, in the first round of the competition in a match that will somewhat define each teams Six Nations.
Ireland have won four of their last five matches with their only loss coming against New Zealand in November last year.
England have only won one of their last five matches, suffering defeats to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand in November. In last years Six Nations they narrowly beat Italy, Ireland and Wales and lost to Scotland and France. None of the England matches had winning margins of more than 9 points.
Head-to-head
England hosted Ireland in last year’s Six Nations and won the match with a last-minute drop goal, the score ending 23-22. Ireland had been on an impressive run against England before that, beating them four times in a row. England last beat Ireland, at home, in 2019.
Betting and Verdict
Ireland are favourites to win the match and are trading at 1.40 while England are trading at 3.60 and the draw is at 23.00.
One can often predict the performance of Ireland by looking at local side Leinster’s recent form as they have been one of the top club teams in the world recently. Based on that, I see Ireland delivering a solid performance this weekend as they look to win a third title in a row.
Handicap: Ireland [-6.5]
Suggested bet: Handicap, Ireland [-6.5] at 1.85.
