The Lions return yet again this weekend after facing one of their toughest challenges so far this tour on Saturday against the Waratahs. Wednesday will see them play the Brumbies in what should be a very exciting match. We will take a look at the match from a betting angle and will make a few suggested bets.
British & Irish Lions
The Lions had a tough game on Saturday as the Waratahs delivered a solid performance with the match ending 10-21. This was the Lions third win of the series but by far their toughest game, indicating how difficult things can get as the tour goes on and the number of minutes played stacks up. Head coach Farrell has named yet another top side this week with 12 of the 23 players being Irish players.
Starting Lineup
15 Blair Kinghorn, 14 Tommy Freeman, 13 Garry Ringrose, 12 Bundee Aki, 11 James Lowe, 10 Finn Russell, 9 Jamison Gibson-Park, 8 Jack Conan, 7 Tom Curry, 6 Ollie Chessum, 5 Joe McCarthy, 4 Maro Itoje (c), 3 Tadhg Furlong, 2 Dan Sheehan, 1 Ellis Genge
Replacements: 16 Ronan Kelleher, 17 Andrew Porter, 18 Will Stuart, 19 Josh van der Flier, 20 Henry Pollock, 21 Alex Mitchell, 22 Marcus Smith, 23 Mack Hansen
Brumbies
The Brumbies finished the 2025 Super Rugby season as the top Australian side and even managed to finish third on the table before the knockout stages. They pulled off a solid win against the Hurricanes in the quarter-finals but unfortunately lost to the Crusaders in the semi-finals. They have won three of their last five matches.
Starting Lineup
15 Andy Muirhead, 14 Ben O’Donnell, 13 Ollie Sapsford, 12 David Feliuai, 11 Corey Toole, 10 Declan Meredith, 9 Ryan Lonergan (c); 8 Tuaina Taii Tualima, 7 Rory Scott, 6 Tom Hooper, 5 Cadeyrn Neville, 4 Lachie Shaw, 3 Rhys van Nek, 2 Lachlan Lonergan, 1 Lington Ieli.
Replacements: 16 Liam Bowron, 17 Cameron Orr, 18 Feao Fotuaika, 19 Lachie Hooper, 20 Luke Reimer, 21 Harrison Goddard, 22 Jack Debreczeni, 23 Hudson Creighton.
Betting and Verdict
The British and Irish Lions are favourites going into the match and are trading at 1.02 for the win while the Brumbies are trading at 26.00. The draw is currently at 81.00.
The Brumbies had the strongest season of any Australian club side making it all the way to the Super Rugby semi-finals. After seeing what the Waratahs were able to do last week Saturday, I think that the Brumbies are going to be able to put up a very strong fight against the Lions and make the match a much closer fixture than some might expect. One must also remember the Brumbies were able to beat the Lions in the 2013 tour of Australia.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Brumbies [+31.5] at 1.90.
When the Brumbies play at home, it is often an exciting match with plenty of points being scored by both teams. In four of their last five matches at home, 57 points or more have been scored across the match. With Farrell naming a side full of Irish players, the Lions won’t lack the chemistry we have seen missing in previous matches. For these reasons I think we will have a very high scoring match on our hands.
Suggested Bet: Total points over 62.5 at 1.90.
