Round 4 of the Currie Cup kicks off on Friday afternoon in Welkom as the Griffons host the Cheetahs. Saturday sees the Lions against the Sharks followed by the Bulls against Western Province while on Sunday the Griquas travel to play against the Pumas. We will take a look at these four matches from a betting angle and share our suggested bets.
FRIDAY

The Griffons hosted Western Province last weekend in Welkom where they lost the match 15-64. This is their third match in a row where they have conceded more than 50 points. The Cheetahs are coming off the back of a 25-13 loss to the Bulls away from home. They have won 2 of their 3 matches so far this season with an impressive win against Western Province away in week 1.

The two sides met in the first round in Bloemfontein where the Cheetahs won the match 82-20.

The Griffons look in for another hard day at the office as the Cheetahs look to bounce back from that loss to the Bulls.

SATURDAY
GOLDEN LIONS v SHARKS – Click here to bet
The Lions hosted the Griquas last week Friday where they won the match 25-13. This was their 3rd win of the season, putting them at the top of their group. The Sharks played against the Pumas last weekend at home where they ended up losing the match 21-31. This puts them on the backfoot as they are yet to win a match so far this season and will need to turn things around if they want to progress to the playoffs.
Head-to-Head
The two sides met in the first round down in Durban in an exciting match that saw the Sharks score in the last minute with a kick to win the match. Unfortunately, they missed the kick and the Lions ended up winning the match 25-26.
Handicap: Golden Lions -7.5
That opening loss to the Lions was the start of the Sharks downfall, they now need to find some momentum but traveling to a dry Johannesburg is not the easiest place to find your first win of the season.

BLUE BULLS v WESTERN PROVINCE – Click here to bet
Western Province travelled to Welkom last weekend with a young team hoping to give them gametime. The youngsters did not disappoint, winning the match 15-64 to secure their first win of the campaign. The Bulls hosted the Cheetahs last weekend where they won the match 25-13. This was their third win of the season and puts them in a comfortable position going into the second round of fixtures in the group stages.
Head-to-Head
Western Province hosted the Blue Bulls in the first round down in Cape Town but were not able to win the match, with the final score being 25-30 in favour of the Bulls.
Handicap: Blue Bulls -8.5
It seems that the Bulls have put their foot down and don’t look like stopping any time soon. They have done the hard part of beating Western Province away from home and now will look to repeat that at home.

SUNDAY
PUMAS v GRIQUAS – Click here to bet
The Pumas made up for their disappointing heavy loss in the second round to the Lions by going on to beat the Sharks away from home last weekend. This means they have won 2 of their 3 matches in the group stages which gives them a good chance of progressing through to the semi-finals.
The Griquas had a much better performance against the Lions last weekend than they had against the Pumas, only losing the match 25-13. They have only won 1 of their 3 matches in the group stages and need to get some victories if they want to make it through to the next stage.
Head-to-Head
The first-round encounter saw the Pumas run away with the match, the score ending 24-44.
Handicap: Pumas -11.5
The Griquas will have learnt from their mistakes from the last match and will come out firing looking for that all important win. I can see this match being much closer than one might expect.
