FRIDAY
PUMAS vs GRIQUAS – Click here to bet
The Pumas played 10 matches in their 2024 season, earning 4 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses. Their season was up and down, lacking consistency, despite some big scoring matches like their 66–26 win over Griquas.
Due to them not finding momentum as the season went on, they finished in 6th on the log with 24 points.
The Griquas were gritty but inconsistent, winning 4 and losing 6 of their 10 matches last year. They showed moments of quality, notably beating the Sharks and Cheetahs, as well as Western Province, to end the season in 5th place with 24 points and a better points difference then the Pumas.
Betting:
Pumas are the favourites at 1.14, Griquas trading at 5.75 and the draw 29.00.
Handicap: Pumas [-14.5] at 1.90
The Pumas should be too strong here and I am betting they win by 15 points or more.

SATURDAY
LIONS vs SHARKS – Click here to bet
The Golden Lions were dominant throughout the regular season, winning 9 of their 10 matches and losing just once, which led to them topping the table with 43 points and looking like title favourites.
Then came the playoffs where they edged past the Cheetahs in a thrilling semifinal but fell narrowly short in the final against the Sharks to lose by 2 points.
The Sharks enjoyed a strong campaign in the 2024 Currie Cup, playing 10 matches and finishing with 6 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses. They ended third on the log with 35 points, which meant a challenging path to the title. After a dramatic semifinal against the Bulls — which ended in a draw and was decided on try count — the Sharks went on to edge the Lions 16–14 in a tense final, securing the 2024 Currie Cup championship.
Betting
Lions are priced as 1.20 favourites with the Sharks at 4.50 and the draw is 26.00.
Handicap: Lions [-12.5] at 1.90
The Lions don’t lose as many players to Bok squads and I see them as big runners again this season.
The Sharks have plenty of young talent though and I think they can beat the handicap.
BET: Sharks +12.5 at 1.90
WESTERN PROVINCE vs VODACOM BULLS – Click here to bet
Western Province endured a challenging season, finishing 7th on the table, with just 3 wins and 7 losses across their 10 outings.
Despite some moments of brilliance, like their 39–30 win over the Pumas, they were often on the wrong side of close results and will look to execute better this season.
The Blue Bulls gelled well as a team during the most recent Currie Cup season, playing 10 matches, while claiming 7 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses to finish in 2nd on the table with 38 points, advancing to the round of 4.
Although they were powerful up until the playoffs, they bowed out in the semifinal after a 40–40 draw with the Sharks, who had crossed the whitewash more times.
Betting
Western Province is priced as 1.50 favourites with the Bulls 2.60 and the draw 26.00.
Handicap: Western Province [-5.5] at 1.90
The Bulls look well capable of pushing a WP team that has underperformed a lot in recent seasons and I am backing them to beat the handicap.
BET: Bulls +5.5 at 1.90
SUNDAY
BOLAND CAVALIERS vs CHEETAHS – Click here to bet
The Boland Cavaliers secured their place in the 2025 Currie Cup Premier Division after a hard-fought 36–22 win over the Eastern Province Elephants in Gqeberha on Saturday, 10 May. This crucial Round 9 SA Cup victory ended Boland’s nine-year absence from the top tier, having last competed in the Premier Division back in 2016.
The Cheetahs had a mixed campaign last time around, ending with 5 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses from their 10 normal games, which led to them booking a spot in the semifinals after finishing in 4th.
Their attacking game stood out and was on display in their massive 82–20 win over the Griffons, however it was not good enough to clinch a win against the Lions, and they were beaten 43-34 to miss out on the final.
Betting
The Cheetahs are priced at 1.33 favourites with Boland 3.60 and the draw is at 29.00.
Handicap: Boland +9.5 at 1.85
The Cheetahs should be too strong here and I don’t think the start the bookmakers are giving the home team is enough.
BET: Handicap Cheetahs -9.5 at 1.85
