The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks meet in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara in the early hours of Monday morning, South African time.
Millions around the globe will tune in to the showpiece of American sport being held for the 60th time and for punters, there is no shortage of betting opportunities to add extra excitement to the occasion.
Let’s start with a look at the two teams:
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
The Patriots continue to set records, reaching a remarkable 12th Super Bowl appearance as they pursue their seventh title. This is their first trip to the showpiece since the end of the Brady-Belichick era, now led by former Patriots linebacker and first-year head coach Mike Vrabel.
New England began their playoff run with a gritty 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round after finishing as the No.2 seed in AFC. They followed that with a 28-16 win against the Houston Texans before claiming the AFC Championship with a tense 10-7 success over the Denver Broncos in snowy conditions.
A balanced offence, efficient chemistry between the players and typically disciplined defence make New England a formidable opponent once again.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Seattle return to the biggest stage for the fourth time in their history and are chasing a second Lombardi Trophy after their triumph in the 2013 season. Under second-year head coach Mike Macdonald, the Seahawks produced a superb 14–3 campaign record to secure the No.1 seed in the NFC.
Their road to Santa Clara was impressive. After earning a Wild Card bye, Seattle demolished divisional rivals San Francisco 41-6 in the Divisional Round before edging the Los Angeles Rams 31-27 in the NFC Championship Game to book their first Super Bowl appearance in over a decade.
Quarterback leadership, a powerful running game and a defence that has peaked at the right time have been the hallmarks of this side and they arrive in Santa Clara full of confidence.
Quarterback Matchup
This year’s Super Bowl also features an intriguing quarterback duel between two players at very different stages of their careers.
For the Seattle Seahawks, Sam Darnold has enjoyed a career resurgence, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns during the 2025 season. His consistency and leadership have been central to Seattle’s rise to the NFC’s top seed and their return to the biggest stage.
On the other side, the New England Patriots are led by 23-year-old Drake Maye, who has produced a breakout campaign with 4,394 passing yards and 31 touchdowns. Maye is the second-youngest quarterback ever to start a Super Bowl and now has the opportunity to become the youngest quarterback in history to win the Super Bowl.
The contrast between Darnold’s experience and Maye’s youthful brilliance adds another compelling layer to this championship matchup.

SELECTIONS
The Seahawks have looked dominant in the NFC playoffs, especially the 41-6 demolition of the 49ers and they carry real momentum into Santa Clara. The Patriots, however, have shown their championship pedigree, grinding out wins on the AFC side to reach a milestone this weekend.
Given Seattle’s explosive recent form and improvements offensively and defensively as well as the low scoring Patriots win to reach the Super Bowl, I’m siding with the favourites to cover the spread and lift the trophy.
BET: Seattle Seahawks -6.5 at 1.98
Although points did not flow freely in one of the Championship games, I believe the Patriots prove much more clinical on attack during this clash to push the total points line up a bit and the fast track at Levi’s Stadium should encourage attacking play. Rather than the standard line, I’m happy to push it slightly for better value.
BET: Over 47.5 Totals at 2.05
There are plenty of betting markets on offer and given my leaning towards Seattle and a high scoring game this one caught my eye.
BET: Player Total Passing Touchdowns Sam Darnold 3 or more at 3.65
