The North Course at the Los Angeles Country Club in California is the host for the year’s third Major, the US Open and we select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
THE COURSE
The Los Angeles Country Club North Course is a par 70 layout and although it is a long course, firm and fast conditions are expected, so controlling your tee shots could be one of the key factors to victory here and this may give the players who are shorter off the tee a shout.
All indications are that we will get a typical US Open with birdies being at a premium and with the greens and fairways running fast, controlling your drive and approach shots will be key.
THE FAVOURITES
Scottie Scheffler who has been knocking on the door in the last two majors without delivering is a 7/1 favourite here ahead of Jon Rahm at 10/1. US PGA Champion, Brooks Koepka 12/1 with Mcilroy 14/1 and Cantlay and Hovland both priced at 18/1. You can get 20/1 and better the balance.
SA INTEREST
The South African contingent is a relatively small one and it is headed by Wilco Nienaber who is 19/10 to be the top South African. Click here to bet on that market. Nienaber despite being Top South African is a massive 750/1 to win the title.

SELECTIONS:
Viktor Hovland each way at 18/1 (Paying 6 places)
Hovland was runner-up in the PGA Championship to Brooks Koepka and 7th behind Jon Rahm in the US Masters. He has been one of the most consistent players on tour in recent weeks and had a runner-up finish 3 starts back.
Things really came together for him at The Memorial though where he won and the only difference between him and the players half his price, is that he has yet to win a major something I think will change soon, if not this weekend.
Max Fitzpatrick each way at 33/1
Fitzpatrick was disappointing in the PGA Championship where he missed the cut, but he has looked solid in his last 2 starts in particular the Top 10 finish at The Memorial two weeks back and last week he finished 20th.
Fitzpatrick is a player who loves tough conditions as he proved with US Open win last year and with his form building nicely he has all the attributes of a contender this week.
Dustin Johnson each way at 40/1
Dustin Johnson is a past US Open winner and although he has been disappointing in the last couple of Majors where he has finished well down field, I think that DJ could be in for a big week.
He has serious length off the tee and with the fairways running hard may be able to scale back a bit this week to gain more control. I watched him play a bit on the LIV Tour and seen signs that his game is coming back to where he wants it.
Corey Conners each way at 80/1
Conners is a player tipped by many to be a major winner, but his major form was quite disappointing with 3 cuts in 4 starts before teeing it up at the PGA Championship. Here he turned in one of his better performances for some time with a 12th place finish and although he followed that with a missed cut at The Memorial his 20th place last week suggests that his game is not far off.
Connors is a great ball striker and should be suited by US Open conditions and I am hoping he puts it all together this week and is in contention down the back stretch on Sunday.
