The PGA Tour heads to Mexico for the World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal. With only a few weeks left in the calendar, plenty of players are fighting for status and exemptions for next season. Below we break down the course, scan the market, and share a few selections.
The Course
El Cardonal (Diamante, Cabo San Lucas) is Tiger Woods’ first completed design (opened 2014). It’s a par 72 at 7,363 yards (6,733 metres) with wide fairways that invite aggressive driving, but the strategy is in the angle and positioning off the tee sets up the best lines into large, heavily undulating greens. Misses can feed into run-offs and awkward lies, so short-game touch matters. Being just inland from the coast, afternoon wind is a regular factor, and firm desert turf rewards players who control launch and spin. Expect birdies if conditions are calm, but the breeze can quickly separate the field.
Past Winners

2023 Erik van Rooyen (South Africa) -27 2 strokes

The Field & Betting Outlook
This week’s lineup offers an intriguing mix of proven winners and rising talents. J.J. Spaun, fresh off his historic 2025 U.S. Open triumph at Oakmont, heads the market at 15.00 alongside Ben Griffin, the Ryder Cup rookie. Both bring strong recent form and confidence to Mexico.
Close behind are Michael Thorbjornsen (19.00) and Max Greyserman (21.00), two young players knocking on the door of a breakthrough, while Garrick Higgo (26.00) and Kevin Yu (29.00) provide value for aggressive ball-strikers suited to El Cardonal’s open layout.
In the mid-range, Michael Brennan (29.00) and Pierceson Coody (34.00) are both trending upward, while Wyndham Clark (36.00), another major champion, can never be discounted when the putter heats up. Beyond that, Austin Eckroat (41.00) returns as the defending champion, and seasoned pros Nick Taylor (46.00) and Emiliano Grillo (46.00) round out a balanced field full of betting potential.
This is a wide-open event, where form, confidence, and altitude-aided ball-flight all combine to offer genuine each-way value across several tiers of the market.

SELECTIONS:
Michael Brennan at 29.00
Last week we saw a fairytale story for Micheal Brennan who won the Bank of Utah Championship after being a sponsors invite to the tournament. Brennan was coming off the back of a brilliant run of form on the PGA Tour Americas where he had three top five finishes in his last three starts. He then went on to have a brilliant week in Utah and win the tournament at 67.00 (we were on him). If he can continue this momentum, I think he has another chance this weekend.
Michael Brennan each way at 29.00
Thorbjorn Olesen at 23.00
Olesen is coming into this week after an impressive third place finish at last weekends Bank of Utah Championship. This was his second top 10 finish in a row after finishing 9th at the Open de Espana. He also had a solid week before that finishing 14th at the Sanderson Farms Championship. With the solid form he is in, I see him finishing up the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.
Thorbjorn Olesen each way ta 23.00.
Rico Hoey at 23.00
Hoey has been putting together a very solid end to his season. In his last four starts he has three top 10 finishes including a 4th place finish at the Baycurrent Classic followed by a runner-up at the Black Desert Championship two weeks ago. With the brilliant form he is in, I don’t think he will finish outside the top 10 this week and if things go right, I think he stands a good chance.
Rico Hoey each way at 23.00
