Coming off the back of an enthralling US Open, the PGA Tour returns for the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands in Connecticut. We take a look at this week’s golf from a betting angle selecting 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
The Course
TPC River Highlands will play host to the final Signature Event (limited field event featuring top players and increased prize money) of the season. The par 70 course measures at just under 6,900 yards which plays shorter than the tour average and scoring is expected to be low. It is a parkland course that is undulating and requires good course management. The greens are smaller than average so any players hoping to win this weekend must have a solid approach game.

Market Leaders
Scottie Scheffler the World number 1 will be looking to bounce back from a poor US Open and is favourite to win this weekend, trading at 4.50. Xander Schauffele the PGA Champion is next in line trading at 8.50, with Collin Morikawa at 11.00, Ludvig Aberg at 15.00 and Victor Hovland is trading at 19.00.
Of the market leaders I like Xander to be right there and I will oppose Scheffler purely on price and the hope that his game is cooling off a bit.

2020 Dustin Johnson (United States) −19 (1 stroke)
2019 Chez Reavie (United States) −17 (4 strokes)
Selections:
Xander Schauffele at 8.50
Schauffele has continued his hot run of form after finishing 7th at last weeks US Open. He has finished in the top 10 in all 4 of his last starts. Schauffele won the tournament in 2022 and finished in the top 20 in 2023 so he ticks the current form and course form boxes.
Suggested bet: Each way at 8.50
Brian Harman at 46.00
Harman has brilliant track record at the Travelers, finishing in the top 10 in 5 of his last 6 starts. Harman finished runner up at last year’s Travelers, finishing -20 and only 3 shots off the lead. He finished 21st at last weeks US Open and will be looking to use his familiarity of the course to put in a solid performance this week as he builds to his defence of The Open Championship.
Suggested bet: Win at 46.00 and Top 10 finish at 4.20
Sepp Straka at 41.00
Straka has been on some hot form recently. With three top 5, one top 10 and two top 20 finishes in his last 8 starts, Straka will most likely be in contention come this weekend. Straka finished 10th at the Travelers in 2021 and 38th in 2023 and although he faded last week in the US Open he looks worth a go at current prices.
Suggested bet: Win at 41.00 and a Top 10 finish at 4.00
Adam Scott at 76.00
Scott is playing some decent golf and finished 32nd at Pinehurst No 2 last week. His course form is solid with 2 appearances in the last 3 years resulting in a top 20 and a top 15 finish.
Suggested bet: Scott win at 76.00 and Top 10 at 6.00
