This week the PGA Tour will travel to North Carolina for the Wells Fargo Championship. Quail Hollow will play host with a number of the best players in the world playing in preparation for the PGA Championship next week. We will take a look at the tournament from a betting angle.
The Course
Quail Hollow is a regular stop on the PGA Tour. The tight, tree-lined parkland course has tended to favour big hitters over recent years, however being able to manage one’s way around the course is essential if one wants to win come Sunday, so it is about more than just power.
The par 72 course plays 7,002 yards.

Selections:
Rory McIlroy at 15/2
Rory has an extremely impressive record at Quail Hollow, winning three times, finishing runner up once as well as another 4 top 10 finished in the last 10 years. He has also been on an impressive run of form, winning two weeks ago with Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic as well as only finishing outside the top 25 on one of his last 7 starts. I expect him to win or go close this week.
Suggested bet: Each way at 15/2
Xander Schauffele at 9/1
Last year’s runner up, Schauffele will be looking to improve his finish and win the tournament this weekend. Schuafflele has been on a solid run of golf recently, finishing in the top 25 in all of his last 6 starts. Two of those were top 5 finishes as well as an 8th place finish. His momentum going into the week will give him an advantage to go low and finish high up on the leaderboard. He doesn’t win as often as he probably should and a decent strike on him finishing top 10 is my play here.
Suggested bet: Top 10 finish at 1/1
Tommy Fleetwood at 28/1
The English golfer has been putting together some solid performances and building momentum as he continues to prepare for the second major of the year. He has had two top 10 finishes in his last three starts with the best of them being a 3rd place finish at the Masters. Fleetwood finished 5th at last years Wells Fargo and will look to use those positive course memories this week. I will have a nibble at the 28/1 but the majority of my stake is on a top 10 finish for the popular Brit.
Suggested bet: Top 10 finish at 12/5
