This weekend, the inaugural Grant Thornton Invitational is set to take place at the Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida and we analyse the betting odds for the tournament.
This tournament is the 1st of its kind on the PGA Tour and it consists of 16 two-person teams, one male and one female from the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour respectively.
It tees off on Friday with a Scramble format then on Saturday it will be Foursomes and on Sunday a modified Four-Ball with one partner teeing off and the other completing the hole.
THE COURSE
All the participants will play Tiburón as a par 72, with the LPGA players covering 6,595 yards and the PGA players covering 7,382 yards. The relatively large fairways will make shots off the tee box straightforward, allowing players with stronger short games to take full advantage this weekend. There is no rough on the course, but rather a significant amount of water to penalize any major mistakes made by the players, which could play a crucial role this weekend.

SELECTIONS:
Tony Finau / Nelly Korda at 11/2
No doubt the main attraction, these two golfers are indisputably world-class and deserving of favoritism. Both possess a deep familiarity with the course, especially Korda, who is based in Florida and has come close to triumph at Tiburon over the years. It’s worth noting her positive performance in the QBE Shootout last year, securing a fifth-place finish, and Finau’s previous collaborations with Lexi Thompson in the same event.
Conners / Henderson at 12.00
A Canadian pair that could capitalise on Henderson’s consistent performance and course knowledge. Henderson, has three top-10 finishes in her last five visits, stands out as one of the more dependable LPGA players present. Conners showed strong ball-striking form in the RSM Classic upon his return to competition, mirrors this reliability and the paring could well click this weekend.
Glover / Maguire at 16/1
Maguire’s potential weakness lies in her driver, but with Glover, she has a reliable partner in that aspect. Conversely, Glover, despite a successful run in August, remains uncertain with the putter, making Maguire a potentially good foil. While their partnership might prove effective, Maguire’s past success at the course, securing second place in 2022, will also help contribute to the success of the pairing.
