We have now completed all four of this year’s major championships, and the attention of the golfing world shifts toward the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which begin in just a few weeks. In the meantime, the PGA Tour makes its annual stop in Minnesota for the 3M Open.
Played at TPC Twin Cities, this event often serves as a final opportunity for players on the bubble to secure their playoff spots, while others look to build momentum heading into the latter stages of the season. We’ll break down this week’s action from a betting perspective and highlight a few potential value plays.
Course
TPC Twin Cities is located in Blaine, Minnesota, just north of Minneapolis–Saint Paul. Originally designed by Arnold Palmer with consultation from Tom Lehman, the course was converted from a Champions Tour venue to a PGA Tour stop in 2019.
The par-71 layout stretches to approximately 7,431 yards (6,795 meters), making it one of the longer setups on the PGA Tour calendar. Despite its length, the course is known more for its risk-reward opportunities than for being a brute. Water hazards come into play on 15 of the 18 holes, and with 27 bodies of water in total, accuracy off the tee and precise iron play are essential.
Players who can keep the ball in play while remaining aggressive will be rewarded, particularly on the reachable par 5s and driveable par 4s. The bentgrass greens are of average size but run extremely fast, measuring around 12.5 on the Stimpmeter. Approach play and putting—especially from mid-range—tend to be key differentiators here.
Scoring conditions are typically favourable at TPC Twin Cities, with past winning scores often reaching the high teens an on occasions the mid-20s under par. Expect birdies to be plentiful for those who manage the water well and take advantage of the scoring holes.

Chris Gotterup at 19.00
Gotterup is coming into this week after two very impressive back-to-back performances in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He started it off by winning the Scottish Open to defeat Rory McIlroy on the final day and then followed this up with a third-place finish at the Open the following week. If Gotterup can continue this form going into this week, then he will surely do extremely well against a much weaker field than he was up against in his last two tournaments.

Tony Finau at 36.00
Finau has a very impressive record at the 3M Open, finishing twelfth or better in four of his last five starts at the tournament. His best result came back in 2022 when he won the tournament by 3 shots. Finau has not been on the best run of form, making the cut in all of his last four tournaments but not managing to break through the top twenty-five. He is returning to a place where he is comfortable, and I think this will be all he needs to find his “A” game and build momentum for the end of the season.

Jake Knapp at 41.00
Knapp is also heading into this week’s tournament on a decent run of form. He missed out playing in the Open last week due to not qualifying for the tournament. He did put in three solid results before that with two top twenty-fives and a fourth-place finish at the Rocket Classic. Given the opportunity this week I can see him being at the top of the leaderboard yet again.

Max Homa at 46.00
Homa makes his 1st appearance here since 202 when he finished 3rd. Homa has been showing improved form and was 5th in the John Deere Classic before disappointing in the Barracuda Championship where he finished 45th.
A classy player it is surely a matter of time until he wins again and why not at a course where he has fond, albeit distant memories.
