The PGA Tour continues this week for the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan. We will take a look at this week’s golf from a betting angle and select a team of players to take on the bookies.
The Course
The Detroit Golf Club will play host to this week’s tournament. Located a few kilometres north of Downtown Detroit, the course has undergone a number of upgrades over recent years. It is a traditional parkland course with a number of tree lined holes and greens that are smaller than the tour average. The course is known to be one of the flattest on tour and while there is trouble for wayward shots the winning score is likely to be north of -20. The par 72 plays roughly 6675 metres.
Market Leaders
A number of top golfers are sitting out this week which means the field is wide open for potential winners. The bookies have Tom Kim as favourite to win after his near victory last week at the Travellers Championship, he is trading at 13.00. Cameron Young, who shot an impressive 59 last week, is second favourite at 17.00 while Min Woo Lee and Akshay Bhatia are both trading at 21.00.

Lee has been playing decent golf over the last few weeks, finishing in the top 30 in all of his last 5 starts. He is looking to take the step up and this could be his weekend as a number of top players are sitting out and I think he will find the course set up to his liking.
Suggested bet: Each way at 21.00.
Taylor Moore at 46.00
Moore finished 4th at last years tournament and 6th the year before. He will be looking to use this course knowledge to his advantage and put his name high up on the leaderboard come Sunday. He has not been on the best run of form recently though but will hope to turn that around come this weekend.
Suggested bet: Each way at 46.00 & Top 10 finish at 5.50.
Rickie Fowler at 56.00
Last years winner will be looking to defend his title. Fowler managed to win last year’s tournament in an extremely tight playoff against Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin. He finished 20th at last week’s Travelers after missing the cut at the US Open the previous week. He will be hoping to build on last week at a course where he has great memories.
