After the conclusion of the three U.S.-based majors and the eight PGA Tour Signature Events, the schedule eases up slightly as the golfing world shifts its focus to Europe in anticipation of The Open. This week, attention remains on the PGA Tour for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and we take a look at the tournament from a betting perspective piking 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
The Course
Detroit Golf Club will host this week’s tournament. Located a few miles north of downtown Detroit, the course has undergone several upgrades in recent years. It is a traditional parkland layout, featuring tree-lined fairways and greens that are smaller than the Tour average. While the course is renowned as one of the flattest on the schedule, that does not mean it will be easy for the pros. The par-72 layout plays at approximately 7,300 yards (6,675 metres).
Designed by Donald Ross, the North Course rewards precision over power, with strategic bunkers guarding the landing zones and subtly contoured Poa-and-bentgrass greens that demand confident putting.

Keegan Bradley at 19.00
Bradley is coming off the back of a brilliant win last weekend at the Travelers Championship where he birded the last hole to beat Tommy Fleetwood by one shot. Bradley now has three top ten finishes in his last four starts and doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon. He finished in the top 25 in his last start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic back in 2023 and I expect another big week from the American Ryder Cup Captain.

Ben Griffin at 23.00
Ben Griffin has continued to deliver consistently strong performances, finishing 14th last weekend to secure his fifth consecutive top-15 result. Aside from Scottie Scheffler, he is arguably the most in-form player on the Tour at the moment. His most recent victory came just a few weeks ago at the Charles Schwab Challenge. With a weaker field assembled this week, he looks to have a strong chance of adding another win to his breakout season.

Cameron Davis at 91.00
Cameron Davis has not enjoyed the strongest season of his career, but he arrives this week aiming to defend his title and claim a third victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He won the tournament in both 2021 and 2023, and also posted top-20 finishes in 2022 and 2023. Davis will be hoping to use this event as a springboard to regain form and finish the season on a high. Given his course form he looks worthy of inclusion.
Suggested bet: Each way at 91.00 and a bigger stake on a Top 10 finish at 9.00.
Cameron Young at 29.00
Cameron Young has excellent course form at Detroit Golf Club, with a sixth-place finish in 2024 and a runner-up result in his only other appearance back in 2022. While he was disappointing at the Travelers Championship, finishing outside the top 50, he had posted back-to-back top-five finishes in the two events prior. I’m willing to overlook last week’s performance, as he may have been fatigued after the U.S. Open. He’s a strong contender in my eyes heading into this week.
