This week, the PGA Tour travels across the border to the Vidanta Vallarta resort, 200 miles outside the city of Guadalajara, Mexico and we take a look at it from a betting angle.
The Course
Vidanta Vallarta is home to a Greg Norman-designed course that opened in 2015. This will be the third year the PGA Tour plays here. The course is known to have wide, generous fairways that leave space for errant shots, while the greens are large and undulating. Water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes. Long hitters will be excited to unleash their power with the generous room for error.
Market Leaders
Tony Finau is currently the heavy favourite to win at 17/2, while the bookies then have the young Dane, Nicolai Hojgaard at 16/1. Emiliano Grillo and Keith Mitchell are trading at 25/1.

Selections:
Tony Finau at 17/2
Finau has an extremely impressive record at Vidanta Vallarta. In 2022, at the first Mexico Open hosted at Vidanta Vallarta, he finished runner-up. In 2023, he returned and won the tournament. The defending champion has had a mediocre start to his PGA Tour season by his recent standards. He has had three top 25 finishes in his last five starts, with one 6th place finish. Finau will fancy his chances of a title defence against a field that’s missing many of the top names.
Suggested bet: Win at 17/2
Emiliano Grillo at 25/1.
The Argentinian golfer has had a solid start to his 2024 PGA Tour season. During his six starts this season, he has finished 22nd or better on four occasions, with his best finish being 7th at the Sony Open. Grillo finished 5th at last year’s Mexico Open, showing that he knows his way around the course. Grillo can challenge for the win and backing him for a top 10 finish is my biggest play of the week..
Suggested bet: Top 10 finish at 5/2
Patrick Rodgers at 35/1.
Rodgers has had five starts this season, finishing in the top 25 on three occasions while only missing one cut. This will be Rodgers third Mexico Open, on the previous two occasions, he finished 10th both times. I would be surprised if he won but given his recent form and his record at this course I am going to back him for another Top 20 finish.
Suggested bet: Top 20 finish at 16/10
