The top PGA Tour players return to action this weekend in the Bahamas to compete in the Hero World challenge hosted by Tiger Woods.
We look at this week’s golf from a betting angle and make a few suggested bets in this limited field event.
Course
The Albany Golf Course, an Ernie Els design, will host this week’s tournament. The course has vast amounts of sand and has a combination of links and desert features. The fairways are generous but if missed, there is not a lot of rough and plenty of waste area. The greens are significantly smaller than the PGA Tour average and the layout encourages aggressive golf with big hitters often having an edge.
The event has been played here since 2015.

SELECTIONS:
Scottie Scheffler at 3.20.
Scheffler has been on a recent break but returns this week to a course where he has a very impressive record. Scheffler won the tournament last year and finished runner-up twice in the previous two years. He will be eager to defend his title and get his new season off to a strong start.
Play: Scottie Scheffler win only at 3.20.
Justin Thomas at 11.00
Thomas also returns to the tour after a five-week break. In his last tournament he finished runner-up. Thomas has a fantastic record at the Hero World Challenge, he has finished in the top 5 in all of his last four starts at the tournament, so he clearly enjoys the track and playing golf at this time of the year.
Justin Thomas each way at 11.00.
Sepp Straka at 36.00
Straka returns to the Hero World Challenge after finishing runner-up in last year’s tournament and he will be looking to improve on that. He finished 10th in 2022 in his first start at the tournament so he clearly has a liking for the course. I will back Straka for the win but will have a bigger stake on a top 5 finish.
Sepp Straka win at 36.00 with a larger stake on a top 5 finish at 5.00.
