The DP World Tour will be heading to Paris for the annual Open de France that will take place at Le Golf National from Thursday to Sunday this week.
We look at this week’s golf from a betting angle and pick 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
Course
Le Golf National is a world-renowned course that recently held the men’s and women’s events at this year’s Olympic Games as well as the Ryder Cup in 2018 which Europe won. The course has a stadium layout that has water on a number of holes and a limited number of trees. The rough is always testing for even the best of players while the large putting surfaces are slippery and tricky. Accuracy off the tee will be essential in order to have a strong second shot into the right area of the green. The par 71 course plays 7,174 yards and will test each and every player this week.

As the season comes to an end, players are looking for DP World Tour points wherever they can and so this week’s field is another strong one. Billy Horschel who missed the cut at the Alfred Dunhill goes into this week as favourite to win and is trading at 13.00. Rasmus Hojgaard is trading at 15.00 and he also failed to make Sunday at St Andrews. The bookies then have Matt Wallace and Thriston Lawrence both at 19.00.

SELECTIONS:
Billy Horschel at 13.00
Horschel has been on a solid run of form. He managed to pull off an impressive win two weeks ago against a very strong field at the BMW PGA Championship. Prior to that he had 2 top 25’s and a top 10 so has been very consistent up until last week where he never got going. Horschel also finished 20th at last year’s Open de France and I am backing him for a big tournament.
Billy Horschel each way at 13.00
Rasmus Hojgaard at 15.00
Rasmus has come close in his last two attempts at the French Open, finishing in the top 5 in both. He also has two top 3 finishes in his last five starts with one of those being an outright win at the Irish Open four weeks ago.
Rasmus Hojgaard each way at 15.00
Jordan Smith at 21.00
Smith has been racking up some very impressive and consistent finishes over the last few weeks. He has finished in the top 20 in four of his last 5 starts on tour and looks to continue that run of form coming into this weekend. Smith finished runner-up at last year’s Open de France and 7th the year before. He will be looking to use that experience to put in a solid performance this week.
Jordan Smith each way at 21.00
Jeff Winther at 111.00
After picking 3 players from the top of the betting boards I have to throw in a long shot. Winther has been inconsistent but can produce when on form. He has had 2 top 20’s in his last 4 starts with the other 2 being missed cuts.
It is his form in the French Open that catches the eye though and he was 2nd last year and 8th in 2022.
