The DP World Tour makes its way to India this week for the inaugural India Championship, a brand-new stop on the schedule. We’ll be taking a closer look at the tournament from a betting perspective, highlighting key angles and offering up our selections for consideration.
The Course
This week’s action takes place at Delhi Golf Club, a classic parkland layout that has undergone recent renovations. The greens were redesigned and expanded to provide a wider variety of pin positions, while the tree-lined fairways demand precision from the tee. Accuracy will be key and those able to consistently find the fairway will have the best chance of attacking pins.
The par-72 course measures 6,912 yards (6,320 metres), not overly long by tour standards, but certainly a test of strategy and ball striking rather than brute power.
The Field
The inaugural event has attracted a high-quality field, headlined by four European Ryder Cup players and several strong Americans. At the top of the betting boards, World No. 2 Rory McIlroy leads the way at 6.00, with FedEx Cup champion Tommy Fleetwood close behind at 7.00. Both are expected to be major contenders, but with a fresh venue in play, opportunities for an upset remain wide open.

Selections
Angel Ayora – 31.00 (each way)
Despite the presence of some of the biggest names in golf, Angel Ayora arrives in outstanding form and will be eager to prove he can contend at this level. In his last six DP World Tour starts, he has registered four top-10 finishes, including a solid 9th place in Spain last week. With confidence high and momentum on his side, Ayora looks an excellent value play at long odds.
Suggested bet: Angel Ayora each way at 31.00
Rory McIlroy – 6.00 (win only)
It’s no surprise to see Rory McIlroy installed as favourite. He has enjoyed a remarkable season, highlighted by finally completing the career Grand Slam at the Masters, a stylish win at his home Open, and success in an away Ryder Cup. Playing some of the best golf of his career, McIlroy remains the man to beat as he chases yet another Race to Dubai title.
Suggested bet: Rory McIlroy win only at 6.00
Ben Griffin – 11.00 (each way)
While Ben Griffin’s Ryder Cup debut didn’t go as planned, his pre-cup form cannot be ignored. In the four events prior, he posted four straight top-10 finishes, including a runner-up at the Procore Championship. Battle-hardened on the PGA Tour, Griffin has all the tools to make a serious run here and looks a strong contender at this price.
Suggested bet: Ben Griffin each way at 11.00
