The DP World Tour will tee up at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England this weekend for one of their flagship events of the year. We will look at this week’s golf from a betting angle and will select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
Course
In a country renowned for its many great links courses, Wentworth stands out as one of the premier parkland layouts. The course is exceptionally tight, with tree-lined fairways and punishing rough on every hole. The greens are fast, and positioning the ball in the right areas will be crucial throughout the week. It promises to be a stern test of accuracy for some of the best players in the world.
What makes Wentworth particularly demanding is the way it places a premium on precision both off the tee and with approach play. Players who can shape the ball both ways and consistently find the fairways will have a significant advantage, as being even slightly offline brings the thick rough and overhanging trees into play. Distance is helpful but far from essential and many of the par 4s require placement rather than power. The fast, sloping greens also reward those with a confident short game and touch on the putter, making scrambling ability just as important as ball-striking.
Historically, the course has tended to suit all-rounders rather than pure bombers. Strategic, patient players who keep mistakes off the card and capitalise on the par 5s are usually the ones contending come Sunday. Expect accurate iron players, solid scramblers, and those currently putting well to feature prominently on the leaderboard.

SELECTIONS:
Tommy Fleetwood – 10.00 (each-way)
Fleetwood arrives in red-hot form with three consecutive top-five finishes on the PGA Tour, including of course his maiden tour victory. Wentworth has also treated him well: three top-15s (including a top-10) in his last five starts here. With his accuracy and classy iron play matching the demands of this parkland test, he looks primed to contend.
Patrick Reed – 41.00 (each-way)
Reed’s record around Wentworth is excellent, three appearances in the last six years, each yielding a top-five. His shot-shaping and short-game nous fit the course, and with added motivation to bank world-ranking points on his return from LIV starts, he’s a lively outsider.
Rasmus Højgaard – 41.00 (each-way)
Højgaard brings strong recent form, posting runner-up finishes in two of his last three DP World Tour starts. With confidence high and his all-round game trending, he has the firepower and touch to push deep into Sunday at a venue that rewards disciplined ball-striking.
Angel Ayora – 101.00 (each-way)
Ayora is a player I have had my eye on sine seeing him tee it up in South Africa in late 2025. He has been in excellent form in recent weeks going 13-8-5 with the 5th place at last weeks Irish Open. He has not played this event before but has a brilliant all round game and I think at a triple figure price he provides great value.
