This week the DP World Tour heads to Surrey, England where the BMW Championship will be played at the esteemed Wentworth Club- West Course. The tournament is set to start on the 14th of September and will end on the 17th.
THE COURSE
Wentworth Club- West Course is a course that is situated in Surrey, an hour from London. It is a tournament that is often regarded as the flagship event on the DP World tour and the last tournament before the Ryder Cup that takes place at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club this year. The unique par 72 is a parkland course that has prominent and towering trees lining every fairway making accuracy and course management an important factor this week.
There are 8 holes on the course that do not have bunkers allowing you to play more freely and daring. The 4th, 12th, 17th and 18th are long par 5’s averaging from 500-600 yards. The 18th is the closing hole that is a challenging hole as it is a par 5 with water near the green, some players layup or go for the green and it makes for an exciting finish.
The course is fast and firm and so is the pace of the greens. The players will have to factor in the weather as it looks promising for Thursday to Saturday but showers are expected on Sunday.
