The PGA Tour stages another of its signature events this week as players head to California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. One of the most scenic and challenging stops on the calendar, this tournament combines world-class golf with demanding coastal conditions.
Players will rotate between Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill in the early rounds before returning to Pebble Beach for the weekend. Below, we assess the event from a betting perspective and highlight a few suggested plays.
The Courses
Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pebble Beach is one of the most famous public golf courses in the world and remains one of the most demanding venues on the PGA Tour. A par 72 measuring 6,816 yards (6,233 metres), it is short by modern standards but extremely testing due to its layout and exposure.
The course is known for having some of the smallest greens on tour, placing a major emphasis on precise iron play and strong scrambling. Missing greens often leaves players facing difficult chips from thick rough or tight lies near the coastline.
Nine of the eighteen holes run directly along the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, making Pebble Beach highly vulnerable to wind and changing weather. Forecasts suggest rain and strong winds for much of the week, with Sunday expected to be particularly challenging. Gusts of up to 60 km/h could turn the closing stretch into a major survival test.
The combination of narrow targets, heavy rough, and unpredictable coastal conditions means that accuracy, creativity, and patience are essential. Big hitters cannot simply overpower this layout, and smart course management is often rewarded.
In summary: Pebble Beach favours elite iron players, strong scramblers, and confident putters who can cope with pressure and difficult weather.
Spyglass Hill Golf Course
Spyglass Hill is played during the opening rounds and is widely regarded as one of the toughest courses in regular PGA Tour rotation. A par 72 stretching 7,035 yards (6,433 metres), it is noticeably longer and more physically demanding than Pebble Beach.
The course opens with several spectacular coastal holes before turning inland into dense pine forest. This shift creates a completely different challenge, with narrow fairways, steep elevation changes, and elevated greens dominating the back nine.
Approach shots are often played from uneven lies, and recovery is difficult if players miss their targets. While Spyglass does not usually yield the lowest scores, a strong round here can provide valuable momentum heading into the weekend.
In summary: Spyglass Hill rewards disciplined ball-striking, fitness, and strong mental focus. Players who navigate this course cleanly tend to position themselves well for the final rounds.

Selections:
Chris Gotterup at 34.00
Chris Gotterup has enjoyed a dream start to the 2026 season, winning two of his first three PGA Tour starts. He opened with victory at the Sony Open, followed that with a playoff win at the Phoenix Open, and added a top-20 finish at Torrey Pines in between.
His aggressive style, strong iron play, and growing confidence make him a major threat this week. On courses where good ball-striking is rewarded, he looks capable of sustaining his momentum.
Suggested bet: Chris Gotterup each way at 34.00.
Justin Rose at 29.00
Rose seems to age like fine wine. Last year we saw the 45 year old compete in majors and dominate in the Ryder Cup. It looks like he is playing some of the best golf of his career and we saw that two weeks ago where he absolutely dominated the Farmers Insurance Open to win the tournament by a staggering seven shots as he finished -23.
Rose also has a good record at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, winning the tournament back in 2023, finishing eleventh in 2024 and finishing in third place last year. I think we could see another brilliant performance from Rose this week.
Suggested bet: Justin Rose each way at 29.00
Jason Day at 46.00
Jason Day has an outstanding long-term record at this event. Since 2016, he has played here nine times and finished outside the top 10 only twice. He has also recorded four top-five finishes and has never finished outside the top 25.
Few players are as comfortable on Poa annua greens and in coastal conditions as Day. If he brings his usual consistency to Pebble Beach, he looks well placed to contend again.
Suggested bet: Jason Day each way at 46.00 and a larger play on a top 10 finish at 4.00.
