The PGA Tour will stay in Florida this week for the fourth of eight signature events of the season. The players will head to Bay Hill to take on the Arnold Palmer Invitational and we select 4 players of varied odds (including a 175/1 shot) to take on the bookmakers.
The Course
Bay Hill is a course that is made to be attacked and so the risk to reward ratio is high. The course has a number of bunkers as well as strategically laid out water hazards. The greens are large but by no means easy having been redesigned by Palmer himself and they are a challenge for the best of players. Players who like to play aggressively often feature but they need to stay focused for all 72 holes.
The par 72 plays 7,466 yards and while length off the tee is an asset accuracy with approach shots and finding the greens in regulation should be key.

SELECTIONS:
I wouldn’t put anyone off defending champ and 2022 winner Scheffler but at the price I am looking to take him on.
Patrick Cantlay at 29.00 .
Cantlay has got off to a brilliant start this year recoding two top 5 finishes as well as a 15th place finish in only four starts. Cantlay finished 36th at last years Palmer Invitation and fourth the year before showing he knows how to play well at Bay Hill. If Cantlay can hold form going into this week he stands a good chance of upsetting some of those above him in the betting.
Patrick Cantlay each way at 29.00.
Rory McIlroy at 8.50.
McIlroy has an extremely impressive record at the Arnolf Plamer Invitational over the last eight years. His worst finish has been 21st while his best finish was first place in 2018. Over the eight years he has secured four top 5s, another two top 10s and a 13th place finish. McIlroy has already secured a win this year as well as a 4th place finish. He will be looking to put his foot down and pick up momentum as he prepares for the Masters and I think he goes close this week.
Rory McIlroy each way at 8.50.
Ben Griffin at 81.00
Griffin is coming off the back of two brilliant performances in his previous two weeks. He finished 4th at the Mexico Championship two weeks ago, losing by only two shots, and then went on to finish 4th again at last weeks Cognizant Classic. I can see him being a real contender this week with the form he is in and taking on some of the biggest names. He was also 14th here in his only start in 2023 and the 28 year old American looks to be coming into his prime.
Ben Griffin each way at 81.00
Max Homa at 176.00
If Griffon wasn’t a big enough price lets throw Max Homa into the mix. His form has been poor in recent weeks but he comes in off a short break and it was not that long ago he was contending at the Nedbank Challenge. It is his course form that catches the eye though and he has not finished outside the top 25 in 5 starts with his 8th place finish last year his best yet.
Max Homa each way for small stakes and a bigger play Top 20 at 4.33
