Formula 1 Italian GP 2025, Betting Preview
F1 returns for the second weekend in a row as the paddock heads to Monza, Italy for the Italian Grand Prix. This is one of the most iconic events on the calendar, and we’ll take a look at the race from a betting perspective, along with a few suggested plays for your consideration.
PREVIOUS RACE – Dutch GP
Oscar Piastri produced a brilliant weekend at Zandvoort, qualifying on pole and then calmly converting it into victory. Max Verstappen had to settle for second at his home Grand Prix, while rookie Isack Hadjar scored the first podium of his career. Lando Norris ran in second place for much of the race before mechanical failure cruelly forced him to retire in the closing laps.

The Track – Monza, “The Temple of Speed”
The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is one of the oldest and fastest circuits in Formula 1. Located just outside Milan, Monza has been a permanent fixture on the calendar since the championship began in 1950.
Key features of the track:
- Length: 5.793 km
- Laps: 53
- Average speeds: Among the highest of any track, with cars regularly hitting over 350 km/h on the straights.
- Layout: Long straights broken up by tight chicanes such as the Variante del Rettifilo and Variante della Roggia. High-speed corners like Lesmo, Ascari, and Parabolica demand precision.
- Set-up: Teams run very low downforce to maximise straight-line speed, which can make cars twitchy under braking.
- Overtaking: DRS zones down the main straight and into Turn 1 provide excellent opportunities, but braking stability is crucial.
Monza is famous for its passionate Ferrari “Tifosi”, who transform the venue into a sea of red every September. For Ferrari, this is the most important race of the year.
Italian GP 2024
Last year’s Italian GP was one for the memory books as Charles Leclerc won the race to the delight of thousands of Ferrari fans in their home GP. Oscar Piastri managed to finish in second place while Lando Norris came in at third.

In Piastri’s last race he managed to qualify first and go on to win the race. He has done this in two of his last three race wins. Monza is also a track that has seen some good success for McLaren over the last couple of years as they’ve built up to where they stand. If you are looking for a bigger price on Piastri consider this option.
Alternative bet: Oscar Piastri to qualify first and win the race at 3.50.
Lando Norris has been a bit inconsistent of late but at a track where he finished on the podium last year I am expecting a big race. My money is on Piastri for the win but I am betting that Norris follows him home.
Suggested Bet: Norris to finish 2nd at 3.00
