The second leg of the F1 double-header will take place this weekend as the grid travels to Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian GP ahead of a month break. We will take a look at this week’s racing from a betting angle.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
Verstappen has now gone three races without a win and is no longer racing away with the Drivers Championship. He is still favourite to win and is trading at 1.16 while Lando Norris is trading at 4.50 with 76 points to make up. The rest of the drivers are well out of reach with Oscar Piastri trading at 151.00 116 points off the pace.

McLaren had an extremely successful race last weekend with their drivers finishing first and second and have closed the gap to Red Bull to 51 points in the Constructors Championship. Because of this, they are now favourites to win and are trading at 1.72 while Red Bull are trading at 2.00.

Previous Race (2024 Hungarian GP)
Last weekend we saw an all-out McLaren domination as they qualified one and two on the grid. They then went on to grab first and second in the race with the drivers swapping positions giving Oscar Piastri his first F1 win while Lando Norris finished second. Lewis Hamilton had another good weekend, finishing third and grabbing another podium finish for the season. Verstappen finished fifth with his teammate, Sergio Perez, finishing seventh after crashing in qualifying.

VERDICT
For the first time this season Max Verstappen is not favourite to win a race, this is due to the fact that he has not won a race in over a month with his last win being the Spanish GP. Will we see a comeback from Verstappen or will we see McLaren continue their dominant form?
I am torn between Norris showing continued improvement and a Verstappen comeback.
McLaren have momentum and consistency having finished in a podium spot with either one or two of their drivers in their last 9 races. They are the only team to do so. The better of their two drivers has been Lando Norris who was leading last week and was instructed to swap positions with Piastri. If McLaren are to continue their form and be in the same position this week, McLaren will surely give Lando the benefit and let him finish first.
On the contrary, it is a matter of time before Verstappen wins another race and continues his dominance. He has won the last three Belgian GPs and will use all that experience coming into this weekend as he looks to get back on top. Because he is not favourite for this weekend, this could be a perfect opportunity to cash out on his dominance and take advantage of the 3.80 odds he is at. This weekend will be up to the viewers, Norris or Verstappen? I can’t look past this pair.
Suggested Bet: Take your pick, Norris at 2.30 or Verstappen at 3.80
