F1 returns this weekend as the grid travels to Montreal for the 2024 Canadian GP. We take a look at this week’s racing from a betting angle and look for a solid showing from Lewis Hamilton.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
Charles Leclerc pulled within 31 points of Verstappen in the Championship when he won the Monaco GP last time out. He was chased home by Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz Jr with Verstappen the hot favourite finishing 6th.
Max Verstappen remains heavy favourite to win the championship and is trading at 1/12. Charles Leclerc is back in second spot trading at 8/1 while Lando Norris is trading at 18/1.

Canadian GP 2023
At last year’s GP, Verstappen dominated, outqualifying second place by more than a full second and then going on to win the race comfortably. Fernando Alonso finished second followed by Lewis Hamilton to complete the podium.

VERDICT
Verstappen will be looking to make up for a disappointing race at Monaco two weeks ago and to dominate this weekend. The other teams appear to be closing the gap though and I can’t see value in backing him at 5/10.
Lewis Hamilton had a strong performance at last years race finishing 3rd. He has finished 6th in two of his last three races and 7th on the other occasion, I am looking for another solid top 6 finish from the former Champion.
Suggested Bet: Lewis Hamiton, Top 6 finish at 17/20
In last year’s race, Max Verstappen managed to qualify first, secure the fastest lap of the race as well as win the race and I fancy he might repeat the dose this weekend on a track where he is well suited.
Suggested Bet: Fastest Qualifier, Fastest Lap and Race Win, Any Driver – Yes at 3/1
