Zimbabwe take on the Netherlands in a Group 2 Super 12 T20 World Cup fixture in Adelaide on Wednesday. We take a look at this game from a betting angle.
Zimbabwe are still very much in their hunt for a semi-final place and they currently sit 4th on the table on 3 points with Bangladesh and India a point above them and South Africa 2 points ahead of them with each team having 2 matches left to play. The Netherlands are yet to open their account and have lost all 3 of their matches to date.
ZIMBABWE
Zimbabwe’s opening game against South Africa was rain shortened and eventually ended with no result, a relief to Zimbabwe who were always on the back foot. They then came out and caused one of the upsets of the competition, beating Pakistan having started the game as 8/1 shots.
Unfortunately for Zimbabwe they lost their next match against Bangladesh in a thrilling encounter. Bangladesh had won the toss and decided to bat scoring a 150 for 7 in their 20 overs. Blessing Muzarabani with 2 for 13 and Richard Ngarava with 2 for 24 were the pick of the bowlers. Zimbabwe fell just short, scoring 147 for 8 in their 20 overs, Sean Williams top scored with 64 off 42 balls and Ryan Burl was left undefeated on 27 off 25 balls at the end of the innings.
NETHERLANDS
The Netherlands lost their first game against Bangladesh by 9 runs and they were then soundly beaten by India losing by 56 runs in their second match. Their batting once again let them down in their last game and they scored 91 for 9 against Pakistan having won the toss and chosen to bat. Colin Ackermann delivered on our top run scorer bet, 27 at a run a ball.
The Netherlands bowlers worked hard, but the total they were defending was too low and in the end Pakistan got up with just over 6 overs to spare and 6 wickets in hand. Brandon Glover finished with 2 for 22 off just under 3 overs and Paul van Meekeren was economical with 1 for 19 off his 4 overs.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides have met 3 times in the T20 format with the Netherlands winning twice and Zimbabwe once.

Zimbabwe 9/20
Netherlands 18/10
Suggested Bet: Netherlands Top Bat, Colin Ackermann at 28/10
Ackermann has been the most consistent of the Netherlands batsmen and with their top order looking really shaky he should get plenty of time sat the crease.
Suggested Bet: Zimbabwe Top Bat, Sean Williams at 3/1
Williams was excellent against Bangladesh all be it in a losing cause and I am expecting another big knock from him in a match that is incredibly important to his country.
