The Royals then went through a dry spell before managing to pick up a few quick wickets leaving Sunrisers in a bit of trouble but a big innings from Jansen saved the day and took their total to 164/7. Top Batsman was Marco Jansen who scored 71 off 31 balls. The top Paarl Royals bowler was Evan Jones who took 2 wickets for 51 runs in his 4 overs.
The Royals started well with bat in hand, losing their first wicket after 68 runs was on the board but the wickets then began to fall faster and with the run rate slowing down a lot, the Royals batting line-up could not reach the total in the end, falling 44 runs short. Top Batsman was Jos Buttler who scored 64 off 45 balls. On the Sunrisers end, Liam Dawson was top bowler taking 2 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs.
