The Proteas will be looking to salvage some pride when they take on Australia in the 3rd T20 in Durban on Sunday. We take a look at the match from a betting angle.
Australia took an unassailable 2-0 Series lead when they beat South Africa by 8 wickets in Durban on Friday night. Australia had won the 1st T20 on Wednesday night by a convincing 111 runs, but after losing the toss and been sent into bat the Proteas and in particular Temba Bavuma came out firing, scoring at over 10 an over for the first 3 overs.
Bavuma went for 35 off 17 and Aiden Markram top scored with 49 off 38 as the Proteas finished on 164 for 8 after their 20 overs. Sean Abbott was the pick of the Australian bowlers with 4 for 22.
Australia made light work of the target getting the winning runs with almost 5 overs remaining and 7 wickets in hand. Matthew Short scored 66 off 30 balls at the top of the innings at a strike rate of 220, but top score for the 2nd match in a row belonged to Mitch Marsh with another Captains knock of 79 off 39 balls.
Most of the Proteas bowlers took punishment and the pick of the bowlers was probably Lizaad Williams with his 1 for 17 off 2 overs.
Australia have won their last 4 successive T20 matches in South Africa and they have taken their overall lead in T20’s against South Africa away to 16-8.

South Africa 15/10
Australia 11/20
Australia have already shown a tendency to experiment with team selection and with this being a dead rubber it is difficult to say exactly what we are going to get in the 3rd T20. At the same time though there has really been nothing in South Africa’s play to suggest they are worth backing at 15/10 and I will be looking at some of the other markets on offer.
Suggested Bet: Player of the Match, Aiden Markram at 7/1
For Markram to win this it is probably going to take South Africa to win the match, but I have been impressed of what I have seen of Markram in the 2nd T20. He looked good with the bat and also pretty sharp with the ball which means he could get opportunities for wickets and runs. Here’s hoping the South African skipper leads from the front.
Suggested Bet: Player to score the most 6’s for Australia, Mitch Marsh at 4/1
Mitch Marsh sent the ball over the boundary 6 times in his unbeaten 79 in the 2nd T20 and he is just looking so comfortable at the wicket at the moment. I am happy to take 4/1 that he gets more 6’s than any of his Australian teammates.
