The Proteas are set to meet Australia at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom in the third ODI of five on Tuesday. We look at this game from a betting angle.
Australia lead the 5 match series 2-0 after comfortable victories in the 1st 2 ODI’s in Bloemfontein.
2nd ODI
In the second ODI at the Mangaung oval, South Africa won the toss and opted to open the bowling.
The Australian batsmen showed their strength by scoring 392/8 in their 50 overs. There were outstanding performances from Labuschagne and Warner, who both managed to put over 100 runs on the board at strike rates of 113 and 125% respectively.
Shamsi was the pick of the Proteas bowlers, taking 4 wickets in the 10 overs he bowled at a run rate of 6.1 per over. There was very little back up from the balance of the South African bowlers.
Despite a strong opening partnership of 81 runs from de Kock and Bavuma, the wicket of the former saw the innings lose momentum. 4 South Africa batsmen including the two openers, made it into the 40’s but went out before reaching 50.
Adam Zampa Took four wickets in 9 overs at 5.33 runs per over and Ellis, Hardie and Abbott all contributed 2 wickets each as Australia managed to bowl South Africa out for 269 runs in the 42nd over giving them a 123-run victory and a 2-0 lead in the series.

South Africa 5/4
Australia 5/8
After taking the first two wins in the series with the second one being in a very comfortable fashion, Australia are rightfully favourites to win the 3rd ODI.
Suggested Bet: Top Batsman Marnus Labuschagne at 11/2
Labuschagne has managed to be the top batsman for Australia in both the opening ODI’s despite not being part of the original squad. He is the sort of player who holds form well and I am backing him to be the top batsmen in the match.
Suggested Bet: South Africa Top Bowler Tabraiz Shamsi at 5/2
Shamsi was comfortably the most dangerous bowler for the Proteas in the 2nd ODI and he is the sort of bowler the opposition tend to go after which increases his wicket taking opportunities. I am backing him to hold form and to stay amongst the wickets.
