SUNRISERS EASTERN CAPE
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape unfortunately had their first match at home to the Joburg Super Kings abandoned without a ball been bowled.
They go into this Tournament as the defending Champions having beaten the Pretoria Capitals in the Final at the Wanderers Stadium last season in a low scoring affair.
Aiden Markram will captain the side and all eyes will be on South African players, Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen who both have the ability to swing matches in their team’s direction.
DURBAN SUPER GIANTS
The Durban Super Giants failed to make the playoffs last season, but they got their campaign off to an excellent start with an 11 run victory on the DLS curve at home to Mi Cape Town on Thursday night. Winning the toss and sending Mi Cape Town into bat didn’t look like the right call as the visitors rattled up 207 for 5 in their 20 overs with Keemo Paul the pick of the bowlers with his 2 for 31 in his 4 overs.
The Giant’s reply got off to a stuttering start, but a superb 85 off 35 balls from Heinrich Klaasen saw them get ahead of the curve and when the rain put an early end to the match with just over 3 overs left it was the Giants who could celebrate an opening victory.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape won this fixture by a massive 124 runs last season. They scored 210 for 2 in their 20 overs with Adam Rossington getting 72 off just 30 balls and they then bowled the Super Giants out for 86 with Roelof van der Merwe getting 6 for 20 in his 4 overs. Unfortunately, van der Merwe is not in the squad this year.
The second game between the teams in Durban was rained out with only 5 overs bowled.

The Durban Super Giants are favourites for this, mainly on the back of Klaasen’s huge effort in Durban on Thursday. I actually feel that the Sunrisers have more likely six hitters than the Giants and that there could be some value in this bet.
