EASTERN CAPE SUNRISERS
In their most recent match, the Sunrisers faced the Durban Super Giants, losing the toss and being tasked to bowl first. They began the innings strongly, taking an early wicket and successfully restricting the run-scoring. Simon Harper’s exceptional performance, with four wickets in four overs, played a crucial role in limiting the Super Giants to a total of 159 runs, losing seven wickets in the process.
However, their success in bowling didn’t quite translate to their batting performance. They lost two wickets before reaching the 20 run mark. Markram and Stubbs, though, managed to turn the tide. Markram contributed 38 runs, while Stubbs excelled with the top score of 66 runs. This partnership allowed the Sunrisers to chase down the target in the last over, losing only five wickets in the process. With this victory, they secured their second win of the tournament, positioning them third on the table.
PRETORIA CAPITALS
The Capitals played their most recent game against the Joburg Super Kings starting with a win in the toss and choosing to bat first. Despite losing a wicket in the second over and regular wickets thereafter, Kyle Verreynne held the innings together scoring 72 runs. They ultimately scored 167 in the twenty overs, losing nine wickets in the process.
The Capitals started their defence well, taking two wickets before the Super Kings reached 20 runs. Unfortunately, they couldn’t capitalize on this early advantage and allowed the Super Kings to gain momentum. As a result, the Super Kings comfortably chased down the 167 runs in 18 overs, losing only four wickets, with Will Jacks taking two of them. This defeat marked the Capitals third loss of the tournament placing them at the bottom of the table.
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time these two sides faced each other was in last year’s final, where the Sunrisers secured a four-run victory, claiming the title in the process.
