The Pretoria Capitals are priced as 5th most likely to win at 12/1 with MI Cape Town even bigger outsiders at 22/1 in the betting markets.
PRETORIA CAPITALS
The Pretoria Capitals currently sit 2nd last on the log after losing 5 and winning 2 of their 8 matches, with 1 no contest. To qualify they need to win both matches against MI Cape Town and hope that JSK don’t win both their games.
Their most recent game was against the Durban Super Giants, where the Super Giants won the toss and chose to bat first. After picking up an early wicket, the Capitals went through a dry spell for the next few overs where they could not dismiss the batsmen, however the wickets then began to drop more frequently with the Capitals restricting the home side to 174/9 after 20 overs. Top bowler was Daryn Dupavillon who took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs.
The Capitals got off to a slow start, struggling to build partnerships and after some extremely slow batting from the middle order batsmen meaning the last few batsmen to reach the crease had a lot of work to do. Although a solid effort was put into the chase, the Capitals fell short by 8 runs losing the match, with Will Jacks top-scoring with 41 runs off 26 balls.
MI CAPE TOWN
MI Cape Town are last on this season’s log after losing 6 and winning 2 of their 8 matches. To qualify they need to win both matches against the Capitals and hope that the Super Kings lose at least 1 of their last 2 matches.
Their most recent game was at home against the Joburg Super Kings where rain delays heavily disrupted the match. The match began with the Super Kings winning the toss and sending MI Cape Town in to bat first and after a steady start it was not long until rain impacted the game, cutting both innings down to just 8 overs each. Although the game was shortened, MI Cape Town managed to reach a total of 80/3, batting at a run rate of 10 an over. Top batsman was Keiron Pollard who scored 33 runs off 10 balls.
The second innings started with MI Cape Town defending a total of 98 runs in the 8 overs due to the DLS system being used and although this was a defendable total, MI Cape Town were unable to dismiss the Super Kings openers who put on a 2 man show, reaching the total in just 5.4 overs and resulting in MI Cape Town losing by 10 wickets with 14 balls remaining. The Super Kings picked up what could be an invaluable bonus point.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Last year when these sides clashed in Centurion it was a thriller from the get-go with the Capitals winning the toss and deciding to field first. MI Cape Town put up a total of 159 all out with 2 balls remaining in the innings and the Capitals put up a great performance, chasing the total down with the final runs being scored on the last ball of the match, resulting in the Capitals winning by 1 wicket.

Pretoria Capitals 17/20
MI Cape Town 1/1
Suggested Bet: Ryan Rickelton to score 50: YES at 28/10
Rickelton has not been able to find his early tournament form but there were signs in his last knock that he is beginning to find his touch and I am backing for a half century here.
Suggested Bet: Pretoria Capitals Top Bowler Wayne Parnell at 12/5
Parnell has been working his way back from a layoff and he has been looking sharper with every match, I am betting on him coming good in this must win match for the team he captains.
