The Sunrisers most recent game was also against MI Cape Town, where they won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite losing an early wicket, the Sunrisers were able to score solid runs, with half-century contributions from both Abell and Markram. This resulted in the Sunrisers scoring 175/6 in 20 overs.
After also taking an early wicket, the Sunrisers allowed MI Cape Town to gain some momentum in the chase. This eventually led to the game coming down to the last ball, where the Sunrisers prevented a score, leaving MI Cape Town with 171 runs 4 runs short of the SEC score. This gave the Sunrisers their fourth win in the tournament so far, keeping them in third place on the table and well in the hunt to defend their title.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides met in Match 17 at St Georges Park where the Super Kings won the toss and chose to field. They bowled the Sunrisers out for 127 and chased the runs down with 5 wickets in hand in the final over.
These sides faced each other in last year’s semi-finals at the Wanderers where the Sunrisers earned a 14-run victory.
