JOBURG SUPER KINGS
In their most recent match, the Joburg Super Kings faced the Pretoria Capitals. They lost the toss and had to bowl first. Initially, they performed well by taking a wicket in the second over, but later allowed the Capitals to pick up some momentum. This momentum was slowed though by both Williams and Shepherd, who each managed to take three wickets. This resulted in the Capitals setting a total of 167 runs in the 20 overs, with the Super Kings taking nine wickets.
The Super Kings chase started badly, losing two wickets before reaching 20 runs. A solid partnership between du Plessis and du Plooy, however, helped put the side back on the front foot. This was followed by a quick fire half-century from Ferreira, enabling the side to chase down the required 167 runs in 18 overs, only losing four wickets. This was the Super Kings first win of the tournament, moving them into 5th place on the table.
PAARL ROYALS
In their most recent game, the Paarl Royals faced MI Cape Town, losing the toss and having to bat first. The Royals quickly took control with openers Roy and Buttler both getting half-centuries. The innings lost some momentum on the slow track and the Royals scored 162/3 in their 20 overs.
The Royals regained momentum in the second innings by taking two wickets in the first over. They maintained the pressure, keeping MI Cape Town behind the required run rate. Fortuin’s three wickets were the most significant contribution from any bowler, leading the Royals to bowl out Cape Town in the 19th over for only 103 runs. This victory marked the Royals fourth win of the tournament putting them on top of the table.
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time these two sides faced each other earlier this season the Paarl Royals managed to secure a 7-wicket victory, chasing down 135 at Boland Park.
