The Super Giants did however finish their season on a high, winning 2 of their last 3 matches with the remaining match being a no result against the Sunrisers. Their final match of 2023 ended in an impressive 151-run win at Centurion over the Capitals, who went on to top the SA20 log.
2 players to keep an eye on are Quinton De Kock and Heinrich Klaasen who both played major roles in the Super Giants side last year.
MI CAPE TOWN
MI Cape Town struggled throughout the 2023 SA20, only picking up 3 wins in their 10 matches. After the side won 2 of their first 3 matches – including wins over the Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town were unable to maintain winning form and in their last 7 matches they only managed to pick up 1 win, once again over the Royals. Their final match of the season ended with them falling 76 runs short of the Super Kings total in Johannesburg.
Rashid Khan will captain the side and is a valuable all-rounder, Dewald Brevis who had some good knocks last year also returns in the MI Cape Town line-up.
HEAD- TO-HEAD
The Durban Super Giants won both matches against MI Cape Town in the SA20 last year with the first match in Cape Town ending in a comfortable 5-wicket win with 21 balls left. The second match, which took place in Durban was much tighter with the Super Giants walking away with a 5-wicket win, chasing down MI Cape Town’s 165 runs with 1 ball remaining.
