The Kolkata Knight Riders took on the Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens in their last match that was played on Saturday the 11th of May and the Mumbai Indians won the toss and sent the Knight Riders in to bat first. Due to rain the match was shortened to 16 overs and the Knight Riders started off under pressure after losing 2 early wickets. They then began to pick up the run rate although they were losing wickets at a relatively fast pace. In the end they reached a total of 157/7, with Venkatesh Iyer topping the batting with 42 runs off 21 balls.
The Knight Riders struggled to take wickets early on and allowed their opponents to score at a decent rate throughout the first 7 overs. Thereafter they took control of the game and began picking up wickets at regular intervals which resulted in them restricting the batsmen and cruising to an 18-run victory, top bowler was Varun Chakravarthy who managed to dismiss 2 batsmen for just 17 runs in his 4 overs.
