The Super Kings got off to a bad start losing a wicket in the first over but thereafter the batsmen began to form partnerships and with just a couple more wickets falling throughout the innings, they were able to reach a more than respectable total of 210/4. Top batsman was Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 108 off 60 balls at a striker rate of 180.00.
The Super Kings then started off solid with the ball in hand, picking up a wicket before the batsmen had scored a single run. They then kept things tight for the rest of the powerplay, taking another wicket and restricting their opponents to a low run rate, however after the powerplay the Super Giants put their foot on the gas and started speeding towards the total with very few wickets dropping, and in the end the Super Kings lost the match by 6 wickets with 3 balls remaining. Top bowler was Matheesha Pathirana who took 2 wickets for 35 runs in 4 overs.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad took on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their most recent match where they lost the toss and were sent into field first. The match took place in Hyderabad and the Sunrisers allowed the Royal Challengers to get off to a fast start, only picking up 1 wicket in the powerplay. For the rest of the innings the Sunrisers bowling attack took a few wickets but they never looked very dangerous with ball in hand allowing the Royal Challengers to reach a total of 206/7. Top bowler was Jaydev Unadkat who picked up 3 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs.
Despite the Sunrisers looking lethal with bat this season, they started terribly on this occasion losing 4 wickets before the powerplay had even ended, which put them under a lot of pressure. Somehow they managed to keep the run rate up and although they were still losing wickets they were looking much better and were in with a chance. In the end they fell 35 runs short of the target losing the game. Top batsman was Shahbaz Ahmed who scored 40 runs off 37 balls.
