South Africa won the 3 match T20 series 2-0 with the final match being abandoned without a ball being bowled.
SOUTH AFRICA
The Proteas have had a relatively quiet year when it comes to ODI format and they have participated in just two 3-match series, with this series making up the third.
Their first action of the year was across three legs when they played against Afghanistan on neutral ground in September. The series begun with Afghanistan winning the first match by 6-wickets and they confirmed their winning form the second time around claiming victory by 177 runs. The third match went the way of the South African side who found some stability and won comfortably in the end by 7-wickets.
A couple of weeks later South Africa bounced back to win the series against Ireland played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium 2-1 after a 139 and 174 run win in the first two games respectfully. The third and final match saw Ireland win by a decent margin of 69 runs to end the series 2-1.
South Africa welcome a number of big players back into the mix and look pretty close to full strength.
South Africa ODI Squad
Temba Bavuma (capt), Ottneil Baartman, Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen
PAKISTAN
Pakistan have had the same amount of playing time this year when it comes to 50-over matches and they started off their campaign with a 3-match series against Australia which took place in early November.
All three matches were held in Australia and despite a narrow two wicket win for the Aussies in the first ODI, Pakistan managed to come back in the second match with a dominant 9-wicket win. The third match then once again saw Pakistan put up a solid display to cruise to an 8-wicket triumph.
Pakistan then went head-to-head with Zimbabwe over three legs just two weeks later, the matches were all played at Queens Sports Club and the results were as follows:
The first match was won decently by Zimbabwe who set the target 80 runs too high, however, this was the only game they came out on top and the next match saw Pakistan obliterate them and win without losing a wicket. The last match was won by Pakistan, whose total could not be chased down, resulting in a 2-1 Pakistan series win.
Pakistan ODI Squad
Mohammad Rizwan (capt, wk), Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hasnain, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Tayyab Tahir, Usman Khan (wk)
Head-to-Head
The most recent fixture held between these two sides was in the 2023 ICC World Cup at MA Chidambaram Stadium, where the match was tightly contested, and South Africa won by just 1-wicket. Prior to this the last encounter was a 3-match series back in 2021 which was played in South Africa and Pakistan won 2-1.

South Africa 1.62
Pakistan 2.40
South Africa looks worthy favourites given the strengthening of the squad that won the T20 series. I am going to look for betting options at bigger prices though.
Suggested Bet: Pakistan Top Bowler – Haris Rauf at 2.95
Rauf didn’t exactly fire in the recent T20 series, but I believe this ODI format will suit him and give him a chance to get into things. He is a quality bowler and I think it is a matter of time until he is amongst the wickets.
Suggested Bet: Aiden Markram to score a 50 at 2.85
Markram showed some welcome form in the 2nd test win over Sri Lanka and I have always felt this is his best format where he is not under pressure to go hard from ball 1.
